Favourite Half-Life Mods (or, HL Life Extension Therapy)
HL has a great mod scene, with seemingly more flexible mods than UT. These two games have been around for years, and only recently have the better mods stopped development or started to move to HL2 or UT2k4. What are your favourite HL mods? I'm currently playing The Specialists 2.0 and Natural Selection 2.0, and alot of the other mods I've played haven't matched them for quality.

I'm a big fan of Neil Manke's mods. They're done with a quality that almost rivals Valve's development teams. I also enjoyed playing Heart of Evil, although it had a number of bizarre level bugs.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Looks like you either got on at the wrong time or didn't set your filter right cause I had at least 30 servers and plenty of people to play against every day.DPDarkPrimus wrote:The Specialists looks cool, but when I got on... there weren't any servers.

CS (Occasionally... Gets repetivive in long stretches)
DoD (I can only play dod_flash, since its the only map that doesn't lag my comp)
Desert Crisis - Great mod, if a bit obscure. Small community, but very very fun.
I played the Specialists before, didn't like it. I kept getting spawn killed, it was too chaotic for my tastes.

I find it a lot like MoH, but a lot more intimate. Of course, you can't fly planes and drive tanks, but then you do get more, I guess, atmospheric infantry combat. You can always just download the mod and give it a try if you have Half Life.TheFeniX wrote:I might as well ask in here:
Has anyone played both DoD and BF1942? Is DoD worth playing if you game BF1942 online already? Everyone tells me it's a lot like MoH. I didn't like MoH that much because I played BF first and loved the option the fly planes, drive jeeps, etc.

DoD has far smoother infantry CQB, as that's what it concentrates solely upon. Its much more realisitc than 1942, both technically and historically. I like both games. DoD tends to be smaller, most of the maps are small urban environments and there are fewer players per game. The controls and feel are quite a bit different, if I've been playing one for a while and not the other, it takes me some time to readjust to the other.TheFeniX wrote:I might as well ask in here:
