The trouble with A+ is that it teaches people to memorise useless facts and figures, and doesn't teach the 'tech mindest.' I know MCP and A+ certified people who don't know what a command prompt is, or how to resolve an IP address to a MAC address. That's the important stuff, not knowing how many registers are in a 386 SX processor, or the exact switches to setup Windows 95 from an NT4 box. That correctect answer to the last two is: Who cares? I'll look it up if i ever have to do that.
I dont know how they do A+ where you are but when I did it, the use of DOS and its commands within the windows environment was drilled into us constantly as was resolving IP's etc, and these are skills I use constantly as a tech.
But with regards to the old stuff you mentioned, yeah, who cares? If I need to know, I know where to look for the answers.

I think that a good thing taught badly is a bad teacher, but that does not mean the subject is inherently bad. One thing I did learn, from a chap who learned to be tech when the 286 was a speed demon, is that experience is a good tutor but you need the ticket to start getting that experience these days.

My grandfather graduated at 15. He probably had a degree before he was drinking.

Anyway, happy birthday!

Damn, I meant "Happy anniversary!"

Shit, I was going to say "I am saddened by the death of your cat."

Shit again! Okay, I'll try it one more time: "Congratulations on masturbating!"

Crap, I meant to say "Graduating". Congratulations on Graduating.

All the best to you Gandalf! If you're going to do a year of nothing, why don't you backpack Europe.

Congratulations. I actually envy you a bit; I'll probably be in the National Honors Society, a half-dozen clubs, and all AP courses by the time I graduate (assuming I don't die of a heart attack beforehand, of course).
Don't hate; appreciate!

RIP Eddie.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

Welcome to the club bud. Enjoy the rest of your life. :D
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Thankyou all for your well wishes and such. :)

BoredShirtless, I'd love to do the whole backpacking thing, alas I have like no money.
