You're going to take the word of a guy who routinely chases down the world's most dangerous animals and almost kisses them at the same time as letting them maul him?

Crocodile Dundee is amusing if grossly misleading.

Skippy is just plain shit. To quote on of the lead actors from the series when asked about it: "I couldn't give a flying fuck about a goddamn talking kangaroo."

Well, if the Australians hate him, then maybe that's why he likes Howard: He hasn't kicked him out of the country.

*flabbergasted*

Does the mans stupidity no no bounds?? Howard??? That cretinous, self serving, egotisitical prat!!! He who blindly follows what ever orders the US gives? With his party full of economic hatchetmen...and he calls this greatness?!

I say we burn Howard, and use assholes like Steve Irwin as kindling (if only for the fact he perpetuates the myth of aussies being bronzed crocodile wrestling psychopaths)

Count me in Ando, when does the attack commence...

Isn't Howard the one that rounded up the illegal immigrants and asylum seekers and put them in camps pending hearing their asylum claims or deportation?

Hell, we should elect him President of the US if he'd do the same thing and deport all of our illegal immigrants and use the US military to patrol the Mexican border. The Canadian border doesn't need to be patrolled because we don't have 7 million Canadians here illegally.

John Howard for President. :P

I saw a picture of the Irwin after the event, and he appeared to have either chocolate on his nose or some other brown substance.

New Zealand doesn't need an air force. A handful of A-4s will do precisely jack shit in any situation NZ could possibly find itself in. At best it could get by with some light attack helicopters. That's it.

The government desided to not replace the A4 squadrons. No NZ government can scrap an entire arm of the armed forces, its unconstitional.

Our A4's formed the best maritime strike units in the asia pacific area and would have been usefull in a scrap with Indonesia/or other nation, but not in a strictly homedefence role. But we would have had to increace the overall size of the airforce at the same time.

We will not get attack choppers for the same reasons we did not get the F16's that were offered to us. They looked at attack choppers and found them to be far too inflexable, needed a huge logistics tail, and cost way to much to use.

[Aussie]The RAAF's F/A-18A/Bs are superior maritime strike units to the NZAF A-4Ks, before the HUG with the superior AN/APG-65 radar, and especially now- the last HUG aircraft was delivered just two months ago, with AN/APG-73 radar.[/Aussie] Besides, even Indonesia has F-16s, which I'd bet on over an A-4K any day of the week- now that Indonesia is taking possession of Su-27s and Su-30s, NZAFs A-4Ks would just be looking embarassing- without a new aircraft, they really were a waste of resources- not to mention, how long could they be kept flying?

We had F16 A/B avionics and much better pilots..and we still have a better rugby team than Aussie.
Besides, even Indonesia has F-16s, which I'd bet on over an A-4K any day of the week- now that Indonesia is taking possession of Su-27s and Su-30s, NZAFs A-4Ks would just be looking embarassing- without a new aircraft, they really were a waste of resources- not to mention, how long could they be kept flying?
When the A4K's were retired they were 'getting on' as it were. We never pretended that our planes could take on Indonesian F16s in a real fight, which is why were were so good as CAS and maritime strike, we had no intenion of fighting anyone's planes. However we do know that we had far superior pilots than them, as during exersises we could hold our own in dogfighting, sometimes.
The A4 fleet could have been kept flying for another 4 or 5 years befor things got to the point where even we could not keep them flying.

There was also some big scuffle involving a ship full of refugees, as I recall.

Of course not, because we're happy at home. I've seen pictures of life in Mexico; if you lived there, you'd want to get out too :)
