I dont remember where I saw this, but I think he was thinking about it. But did not do it for some reason. Perhaps he felt by invading SA it would trigger an American response.

Anyway, back to your point. Yeah, he probably could have taken SA. Although I think SA pilot's might have given the Iraqi Air Force a bloody noise.

Considering how poorly the Iraqis and actually fought and co-ordinated their attacks I wonder if the first Marines and Army Airborne troops might have done much more damage than was expected of them at the time. I forget who, but one general refered to them as speed bumps before the heavy armor got there.

Correct.

Like most armies of Eastern Europe, the Czechs were heavily depenant on French models at the time. Most plans were heavy on the defensive end, although that's not to say the Czech army wasn't large or well-equipped even next to Germany's.
