Post by Col. Crackpot »

there are a growing number of sports/athletic related threads popping up now. I know the idea for a sports forum was shot down, but what about a usergroup? the anti-sports members don't even have to know it exists.

Nah, the occasional 'my team owns you' post goes perfectly in OT. I mean if we keep weeding out topics, there won't be anything left for OT.

If your not a sports fan, skip over the topic.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

i dunno, i thought it would be a good idea to have a place where i (and many others) could spew viritol and toss sports stats around and not have to worry about posts being called spam....

At the time of this post 15% of the threads on the first page in OT were about sports. I think a usergroup would be good, but maybe a seperate forum is a little too much.

Why would a post with sport stats in a sports thread be called spam?

You just want to be a mini mod and special. :P

I just don't think that there would be enough traffic to justify a usergroup. Sure, at the begining of various sports seasons and then the playoff's and championships, you'd get some traffic but other than that only perhaps half a dozen people around here seem to be the really big sports nut type to constantly rehash stats and history to make such a forum or usergroup worth while.

Granted, it's all up to Mike, but I don't think it would be worth it.

I a brief surge is sports related posts really isn't is enough to justify a forum. If it keeps up, then maybe yeah.

No, there's absolutely no need for another usergroup or forum to clutter up things. As it is, sports is only really seriously discussed at the height of whatever sports season is being discussed. Otherwise, it's an uninterrupted wall of threads about touching oneself at night, and the virtues of anal sex. There's really no need for a sports group of any sort here.

Sure, I would support such a group.

Every time there's a temporary increase in the number of threads focusing on a specific topic (sports, music, books, film, etc...) someone will almost always ask if there can be either a new forum or usergroup pertaining to that topic.

Such periods only last about a week or so. Then they die down and everything goes back to normal.
