Conceeded. It might not be a bad thing, but I still have doubts on how well he will manage. Furthermore, was he actually a businessman or just played around with stocks? The regular joe average guy doesn't always do well in office. Look at Jimmy Carter...
Actually, Jimmy Carter is arguably the most intelligent man to be President this century. He's not your average Joe, intellectually, he's a cut above.

As for Arnie "playing around with stocks," you just can't make that kind of mad cash if you don't know what you're doing.

No. Despite Enron's well-documented fraudulent behavior, they couldn't possibly have been responsible for the entire shortfall, or even a large minority of it.
Davis originally had a contract with the companies to buy the electricity at a flatrate... Then the companies decided they would fake a blackout, then renegotiate a contract.

CNN.com has a breakdown by County.

So far in my own county (orange)

Only one of the candidates inthe entire field hasn't garned a vote, (Mobely)

Marey Carey leads Gary Coleman, 144-107 so far. You will find her listed with her true last name "Cook" on any poll.

kurt Rightmeyer, Sumo Wrestler, has 11 votes

(Jesse Jackson is on Tv, does he have a job?)

Larry Flynt is a close tenth with 227 votes, oly about 130,000 or so behind Ahnuld.

What did he do? Besides acting that is.
He has a business degree. He made millions of dollars off of stocks and bonds. He didn't need to act by the time he started.
I thought he was a Billionare by this point, whats the offical level of his "fortune" anyway?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

I thought that would be Clinton.

Jimmy didn't exactly bomb the presidency, but it was nothing spetacular either. The only reason he got elected was because he sold himself as a non-politician in a time when most Americans were tired of politicians. Good ole' Jimmy the peanut farmer...

As for Arnold, how much of investing in stocks is actually related to running a state?

Furthermore, I don't exactly agree with a few of Arnold's positions, although I am glad he's not some right-wing extremist nut...

With a 20% margin, Bustamonte better hope for a miracle. The State Secretary will almost certainly certify the election. That sounds like the wishful thinking of the pro-Gore side that Florida's electors might actually give their votes to Gore.

I seriously doubt the California people will stand for a civil suite. Arnold has such a clear majority that Davis had better just sink quietly into the night rather than making a shitload of noise for no reason.

Pure irony
There is alot more to playing the stock market than gambling. Of course, there is alot of risk involved, but you can't just go in blindly and expect to make money. Like Durran said, go take a basic Econ course...
You just love me-too whoring don't you? I've taken economics courses like the majority of college students, though I ignored the anti-regulation-in-all-circumstances and pro-child-labour diatribes.

The similarities aren't large enough to invalidate what I said. Gambling and investment can have negative side effects, with gambling creating the problems you've all heard about, and investment making markets more volatile. Buying and selling quickly can result in no net contribution. In a stock market, people can just game the system to a greater extent. Since people are so keen on saying shit like "take an econ course and get back to me", ask a few investors or economics teachers, including my conservative econ 101 prof =/

AT ANY RATE, someone who takes his chances and games the system isn't magically knowledgable or capable of running a state.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Source? Also, you're ignoring other factors that affected the situation, including the Pacific Coast drought and the consumption-encouraging price controls.
As for Arnold, how much of investing in stocks is actually related to running a state?
It doesn't, really, although it does show that Arnie has been out in the real world and knows how wealth is generated.

Also, I wouldn't fixate too much on Arnie's lack of experience; Gray Davis was an extremely experienced politician and he just got his ass kicked out.

Of course there are similarities. But it's just appallingly ignorant to suggest the degree of similarity that you seem to be implying (are there gigantic brokerage firms with thousands of partners dedicated to giving people advice on how best to make money at casinos?).

Personally, I've never understood why political experience is said to be a plus. As far as I can tell, the longer one has been in politics, and the less experience he has outside of that arena, the worse he'll be.

I know he needs to hope for a miracle, but its still a very small margin polled, and this election has had a larger voter turnout than any other gubenatorial election in state history.

Of course Cli. doesnt want a civil suit, but I put nothing against Gray Davis, he's a flithy douche of a man who relies on smear tactics.

Conceeded, and it probably doesn't have the exact degree of similarity, but there is enough to refute the claim that his m4d investment sk1llz gives him a magical qualification.

I resent the idea that governance is a black art that can only be practiced correctly by a caste of career politicians. Arnold is a smart and successful man, who'll no doubt also choose experienced advisors.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

It is not all that hard to make money in real estate in Calfornia. Not at the rate prices have appreciated over the last 20 years here. It does indicate he realizes where to invest, but it does not make his special in my opinion.

Because people are looking for a scapegoat and people somehow think he's responsible for everything. He was doing a fairly good job until the crisis thing.
