How about those Colts?
Wow. Anyone stay up to see the game last night? I was *this* close to going to bed and writing them off (as my website will testify) but am glad I hung in there.
I'm somewhat dissappointed that the game was decided on a dodgy call, but am somewhat mollified by the fact that bad calls were made on both sides. Truly, that was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. But in the end, a team that erases a 35 point deficit deserves to win.
The Colts have given me a lot of pain over the years, but nights like last make it seem worth it.

That leaping call on Simeon Rice was garbage. I hate to see the refs decide the outcome of a game, but that's what happened last night. They tried to give the win to Tampa by calling a garbage call on Indy for running into the punter, but Tampa apparently didn't want to win it and promptly went three and out. Then, they try to give the game to Indy with that garbage call on Rice. No way should Vanderjagt have been given that second opportunity.

Was at work and didn't see the game, anyone got highlights or should I just go to NFL.com.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Holy Jesus fuck, I can't believe they won. I changed the channel after that interception runback.

leaping call aside, Tampa gave up 35 second half points, and blew a three touchdown lead in the last 5 minutes of the game. If anyone "gave" indy the game it was the Buc's defense.irishmick79 wrote:That leaping call on Simeon Rice was garbage. I agree. Would I have liked to have seen Mike kick that 41 yarder clean? Yeah, that would have felt even better. But no cheap call can erase what the Colts did in the fourth quarter. The fact that many cheap calls went against the Colts throughout the game (not just the roughing the passer, but did everyone see the facemask flag that tethe ref picked up after deciding "Uh, there wan't really a infraction on that play?") helps me get over that quite a bit. The buc fans and especially players whining about that one call need to re-evalute the game.

Indeed. Whining about the refs giving away the game is pointless. There's no excuse for a professional football team to give up 21 points in less than four minutes, especially not the "one of the best, if not THE best defense ever". If that pack of big fat loudmouths can manage to hang on to a 21 point lead for four lousy minutes, the refs don't matter worth shit.aronkerkhof wrote:The buc fans and especially players whining about that one call need to re-evalute the game.

The best description I've seen of it is Len Pasquarelli's take over at ESPN. Chuckie seemed to take the loss in stride, but I would NOT want to be his team during practice and meetings this week. Reviewing the tape of the fourth quarter and OT is going to be painful.Knife wrote:Was at work and didn't see the game, anyone got highlights or should I just go to NFL.com.

you know what pisses me off? So many of the players and fans from Tampa Bay bitching and moaning about how their team's defense doesn't get the respect it deserves and that the sports media doen't annoint them as the best defense in the NFL. Well let me tell you something, when faced with a 3 touchdown lead the "best defense in the NFL" shouldn't choke like an elf on a donkey cock.aronkerkhof wrote:I agree. This was an extra sweet victory. I'm a big Colts fan, and my best friend is a big Buccaneers fan. All last week, I had to listen to him run off at the mouth about how Tampa was gonna kick the Colts ass', and ripping on Manning. The best part is the fact that he works third shift, so he had to leave during the third quarter, thinking that there was no way the Colts were going to come back. He called me at three A.M. during his break.
I didn't break the news to him gently.

I watched all but the first three minutes (was late getting to the MNF party down at the gym).
My thoughts on the last penalty: Under the letter of the rule, the official was right to call that penalty. Under the intention of the rule, it should not have been called.
I must say, we were about ready to call it off with four minutes left, until the Colts got the TD and then got the onside kick.
What determined the game? A sequence of events: The timeout with 2:29(?) left, then the personal foul with 2:04, then the 2-minute warning gave the Colts three stops for one timeout. The personal foul on Sapp (which was a good call, he led with his helmet) meant that two penalties cost the Bucs 40 seconds and 30 yards. Those were what allowed Indianapolis to score the third of the three touchdowns in the last four minutes. If only one of the personal fouls had occurred, TB probably would have won. It was a lack of mental endurance that finished them off.

GRuden said it best, Theres no point in complaining about overtime when your team gave up 28 points in the fourth quarter, because of they had done their job and earned those seven figure paychecks then it wouldn't have even come to that.

Alstotts out for the season too, couple that with a Carolina Panther win and id say Tampas Playoff hopes look a little shaky

so is New England, but they are still winning games. Depth is the answer. The Pat's depth chart is as deep and the Grand Canyon....that and the fact theat they are mostly a bunch of scrappers with something to prove.phongn wrote:Shaky is right, Bucs are dropping left and right with injuries.

Bah. The Eagles by all rights should be 0-4 with the number of injuries they've had in the defense.phongn wrote:Shaky is right, Bucs are dropping left and right with injuries.
