The Domination vs Mordor
Scenario One: Through the forces of space-time rips, the Domination and Mordor find themselves on the same continent, seperated by a narrow no man's land.
The Dominator wants to add Mordor to his empire because he's a power-crazed lunatic. Sauron wants to do the same.
Scenario Two: Exact same thing, but with Lady's empire at it's greatest extent vs Mordor.
No outside interference, at all.

Well, this particular dominator is an Uber-Magician. At the height of his power, he controlled the world, IIRC, and both he and his consort, the Lady, were bad @$$ mother-F***ers, with powers able to kill many people, rifle through even a wizards mind with ease, etc. Further, the Dominator, through a process called Taking, which both he and the Lady could do, could permanently compel a wizard into their service. The Dominator Took the 10 most powerfull wizards of his time (of all KNOWN time, at that point) to serve him. He was only bested by the White Rose, because she was a military genius and magic null point, so his powers couldn't work. all 12 were sealed in the barrowlands until a wizard named Bomanz (archelogist wiz...) broke through the safeguards and let the lady loose, and the 10 with her. He DID manage to keep the dominator down (possibly with covert help from the Lady). Lady rules for long time, until Dominator tries to break free, helping the rebels against the empire, and turning several Taken trator. Only 2 (or 3?) survive, plus 3 more the Lady Took from the rebel ranks. Raven (the badass in combat, cowardly in relationships) breaks the Dominator free accidentally, Black Company is devastated containing him--he is eventually contained in a silver spike in a tree, the son of a god. Spike stolen, recovered, thrown into void. To give you an idea of his physical toughness-strength of 10 men (at least!), and one of his 10 taken was beheaded, burned (except for head), and came back just fine (minus being without a body). That one devastated huge numbers of cities with a pitifully small army, before being contained, and finally killed (I think), by having the flesh boiled from his bones...and that was just a leiutenant of the Dominator...
Not sure Sauron doesn't have more total power though...but the Lady and Dominator have tactics on their side...I'd call it a toss up...

Millions upon millions. They were incredibly numerous.Enforcer Talen wrote:I thought sauron had no more then a million orcs, scattered throughout mordor and eastern middle earth?
Sauron would crush the Dominator and the Domination. He, The Lady, and the Taken were tough, no doubt about it, sufficient numbers could bring them down though. Press the millions of orcs against the Dominator and his forces and he'll be brought down.

Millions can be broken; each of the Taken can annhilate armies; and there is no way Saruman can stand against the Taken.
Now, let's bring windwhales into the equation. ^^

Ah, ok. A standard windwhale is effectively immune to all the orcish hordes and can rip the apart quite nicely.

Well, a windwhale is a mile-long whale thing that flies, and has huge tentacles that can eat armies.

The Taken never annhilated enite armies. And Saruman just might, we never saw him fight openly with his full powers. Given what the Maiar can do when they cut loose, he could win. Or they could simply undo the Taken's defenses and watch as they're killed by orc arrows.Cyril wrote:Millions can be broken; each of the Taken can annhilate armies; and there is no way Saruman can stand against the Taken.

Sauron and the Nazgul would be absolutely immune to the Taken and Dominators magic. They don't effect the soul and that's all Sauron and the nazgul have. Well, Sauron's got a body but it's replaceable.
And windwhales. They're slow and vunerable. The Nazgul would cut them and their Manta escort to ribbons in the first engagment.

It says in White Rose that they're capable of eating armies; the Rebellion never gets into an engagement where it's necessary.
Methinks the Nazgul would be rather occupied by the Taken; the Taken can at least destroy their material bodies. And, since the Rebels could imprison the Dominator's soul in a silver spike, what's to say the Dominator couldn't do the same to Sauron?
The Limper slew thousands of soldiers singlehandely in one battle in Forsberg; and he was beng countered by a few of the Eighteen. When he cut loose entirely, he was able to wipe out cities. Saruman has never demonstrated that sort of power.

And Sauron was supposed to have cut a swath in any battle he joined.Cyril wrote:It says in White Rose that they're capable of eating armies; the Rebellion never gets into an engagement where it's necessary.[/ quote]
But at the battle at charm they did not destroy entire armies. Eventually they destroyed armies but that was more brutal attrition rather than single or a few quickly paced strikes

The Nazgul have no physical body. They are wraiths; they have no body but are capable of manipulating the physical world.

All they did was boil and burn the Dominator with the spike. No fancy magic, just a hot fire. That sure as hell won't work with Sauron.
We never saw Saruman cut loose. He was forbidden to fight power with power. If he does, it'll be bad.

Couple of reasons for that. But at the battle at charm they did not destroy entire armies. Eventually they destroyed armies but that was more brutal attrition rather than single or a few quickly paced strikes
Remember, they were being parried by the surviving Eighteen. Furthermore, Lady did not let them cut loose - the whole point of Charm was to wipe out the disloyal Taken AND the Rebels, and thus make a statement to both the Rebellion and the Dominator.
I thought they needed their cloaks or something to interact with the world, and that's why Aragon was able to defeat them with fire? The Nazgul have no physical body. They are wraiths; they have no body but are capable of manipulating the physical world.
They *locked his soul* into the spike. All they did was boil and burn the Dominator with the spike. No fancy magic, just a hot fire. That sure as hell won't work with Sauron.
We only saw one Taken ever cut loose, and when he did, his fury brought mighty cities to their knees - and that was when he was lacking a body, full control over his powers, an army, and support-spellcasters.And Sauron was supposed to have cut a swath in any battle he joined.
We never saw Saruman cut loose. He was forbidden to fight power with power. If he does, it'll be bad.

Possibly.
By the way, how would the untold million of orcs feel about being cooked like lobsters?
