The Godfather because without it.... There would be no Scarface or Goodfellas..

and I am off to go dig a hole in the Desert..

My decision: Both.

I wouldn't be able to resist either Godfather or Scarface. Sold!

I haven't seen Scarface, but I doubt it could be better than The Godfather.

About the quoting... I tend to quote Al Pacino often. Though I don't know where most of the lines come from. Just look at my location and sig.

Can anyone tell me where "just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in" is from?

As for it being a wankfest... Is anyone else really sick of this being used as a catch-all criticism?

Godfather or Scarface screw those crime glorifying movies,i`ll chose Dirty Harry over any gangster movie or tv show anytime.

Until I watch Scarface, I'm going with Godfather
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Godfather is the superior movie, Scarface I just found too gory, but I will admit that it is more quotable ...

As much as I love The Godfather trilogy and Scarface, I also have to mention other gangster movies like The Krays and Lock, Stock as well as Snatch.

I can't really pick a best one, sorry. But at least my status as a North American doesn't change.

I'm more suprised people don't leap away from you like a leper if you admited you had seen The Postman (I assume you are refering to the Costner movie and not the Italian movie, which has nothing to do with the former).

Well, I've seen neither, but I have been contemplating picking up the new Scarface DVD. Perhaps I should do that before my American citizenship is revoked, and I find myself stranded in Mexico.

Hell yeah AV, and let's not forget the one where Caine is a hitman hired by his wife to kill the guy she's been having an affair with.

I forget that one, but Get Carter is brilliant.

Scarface left me kinda cold. But i would say that. I come from a family that set up one of the 1st loyalist paramilitaties and when they did it they modeled the structure on the American/Itallian Mafia. I have to prefer the Godfather, it's a genetic thing.

His attitude was his strength and weakness, that led to his downfall, unfortunately.

I think the basic difference is that, when knocking someone off, Montana was gung-ho and insane about it (except the part about killing the guy with his wife and kid). Don Corleone ordered killings like he was ordering pizza.

It wasn't just killing people; Montana was too hyper in everything he did. But the guys in the Godfather triology were smooooth.

The thing is in The Godfather you're kinda pulling for the bad guys. I usually do. But even a cold hearted fuck like me couldn't cheer on Montana.
