Does anyone know how many Americans have died in Afghanistan since OEF started? All my sources tend to repeat the same thing: The DoD isn't saying.
The numbers on Iraq seem to come mostly from anti-war sites (again, DoD won't say), with the highest I've seen being a total of 322 killed, with 184 of those coming after the "end of major combat operations," with nearly 2000 wounded. The website used the NY Times, Washington Post, and defenselink.mil to get the names of post-5/1 deaths, and the numbers of pre-5/1 deaths. The Associated Press has estimated at least 3,200 civilians deaths in Baghdad alone, while an independent panel of researchers had estimated the nationwide civilian body count on June 13, 2003 at 5,000 to 10,000.

Operation Enemy Blood Bath would be even more accurate though.Gil Hamilton wrote:Personally, I think it should have been "Operation Clawhammer to Face" myself, but that's just me.

I'm amused that the Associated Press thinks it can do a better job of estimating Iraqi civilian dead then the local Baghdad hospitals, who gave a number that was rather lower then 3,200, around 1,000 as I recall. The Dark wrote:The Associated Press has estimated at least 3,200 civilians deaths in Baghdad alone, while an independent panel of researchers had estimated the nationwide civilian body count on June 13, 2003 at 5,000 to 10,000.

Yes, but Sea Skimmer was specifically referring to the AP body count for Baghdad, and not the body count for the whole country.Vympel wrote: Not every Iraqi civilian died in Baghdad dude.

Operation Infinitive Justice was considered too offensive, anything with a word too close to Dessert threatened to take Americans off of their diets, and Operation Bend Over Dickless 'Cause You're About to Take a Tomahawk up the Hersey Highway 'Til it Reaches Your Beard and Diggin' That Fricken Circular Trench Around Kabul Only Makes it Look More Inviting was already taken.HemlockGrey wrote:Personally, I think 'Operation Enduring Freedom' was scraping the bottom of the barrel, and 'Iraqi Freedom' just sucked. Or "Operation: Blood Fire Death!!"Gil Hamilton wrote:I got it! "Operation Bloodbath and Beyond".Sea Skimmer wrote:Operation Enemy Blood Bath would be even more accurate though.
Seriously - even I can't believe that somebody can get a number of 280.000 dead civilians unless they've made a gross miscalculation. (The people who got to this number probably meant 28.000, and some typo led to the 280.000 figure)

Same op, different name, as far as I'm aware. It was the name "Infinite Justice" that was stupid.Illuminatus Primus wrote:So "Infinite Justice" was renamed "Enduring Freedom"?
