Defiantly. The people who attempt to claim otherwise are simply morons. The ideal family doesn’t exist, since no one could ever define what it would be due to differing values people put on things. However many are clearly better then others. Homosexual and loving beats fucked up every day of the weak.Stormbringer wrote:Unfortunatly all too many people believe the bullshit these people are peddling. It's laws like the two you were talking about wich make me ashamed that I'm a Texan. I take it upon myself to speak for my fellow tolerant Texans when I beg all of you not judge our state because of Billy-bob Joe and his fellow right-wing conservative, church going buddies.

It's Texas . . . almost Deep South, and the state that produced Shrub and his peculiar brand of unintelligible fundie homophobia. To see such stuff from them astonishes me not, but it is depressing.

"Studies have shown". Huh. When I was growing up, there was a classmate who was all fucked up. Insecure, shy, all that. That kid had some identity issues, for sure. We just assumed it was because he, like us, was in this alt. school for the same reasons we were, that is, broken family/no childhood/insert poppsychobabble here. It didn't come out til later that he was raised by lesbians. now it seems pretty clear to me that, in the early 80's, same sex parenting was pretty new, as was being out of the closet, so no doubt those parents made some mistakes--that is, they were just as fucked up as anyone else, and were trying something that had never been done before, i.e., coming out of the closet, as well as raising a brat. But parenting is "trying something new" for every7body. Look, folks, being hetero is no guarantee that your child will grow up "right". I have fundie relatives who raised their brats as strict Christians (I don't know what denomination, Catholic maybe), yet their elder daughter ended up being a stoned-out teenage mother who had sex with her uncle-by-marriage (personality failure on both parts, blame on one impossible). And I have no doubt that, should gay friends of mine decide to raise a kid, that kid would have just as much of a chance turning out fine (inversely, being a murderous junkie or something) as anyone else. Being a parent isn't something for which they sell a manual. I don't have kids, but we work hard, and I work hard so someday Amy won't have to, bec she wants to be a stay-at-home mom, all bec we are ready to embark on this great new, strange adventure. So fuck'em. I say, gays can have kids just like anyone else if they want, as long as they, like anyone else, are willing to put in the hours. Gimme a break, if someone is gay or not.

Wow...I just read thru this forum and all I can say is wow. I realized that these were issues, but being in secluded old New Mexico, there's really not that kind of issues out here...mostly because many residents are Hispano, and the machismo is what keeps everyone from coming out, and blablahblah. I would like to comment further, but I need to get at least an hour of sleep before my class...

I doubt it's just Florida's idea of family values, it's the whole fucking Bible Belt's version.Darth Wong wrote:Florida's idea of "family values"; tear families apart and take children from loving households because it offends the majority's religious sensibilities.
