Wedding guests accidentally shoot down small plane

BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro -- Wedding guests firing shots to celebrate a wedding apparently shot down a small aircraft.

News reports say it happened Friday in central Serbia and that the two people aboard the plane were critically hurt.

A witness says the single-engine plane was flying low over a wedding party when guests started firing their handguns and other weapons. He says the left wing of the plane caught fire and the plane crashed.

Shootings and fatalities are frequent at Serbian weddings because of the centuries-old tradition of blasting away with firearms in celebration. It's the first known reported case, however, of an aircraft being brought down.

Gee I thought It was just because paparatzi haters were amoung the guests. Erm wedding, and Madonna, Sean Penn, a couple of Mobsters & the Royal Family were in attendance, someone brought an SAM system.

Shooting into the air is just a damn stupid way to celebrate.

For a couple of years in a row we had people get shot around here because some dumb ass decided to shoot in the air with his gun during Independence Day. Those bullets come back down and they come back down pretty fast, and they don't generally come back down on the dumbasses doing the shooting.

I've seen pictures where it went throught the roof of a mobile home and lodged in the floor.

I almost thought it was funny last year when the same wedding celebration thing was going on in Afghanistan just as some of our warplanes were going by. Surprise, surprise they attacked the wedding party because they thought the retards were shooting at them.

I'm just surprised that there haven't been enough (its says, "shootings and fatalities are common") injuries to get people to stop shooting in the air for celebration. Besides being dangerous it's a waste of ammunition. At the very least shoot blanks. Better yet, how about making or buying some fireworks if they really have to have something "go boom" at their weddings.
