Typical pen or keyring mounted laser pointers are Class II, so no, they can irritate but blinding is not possible. Not to say shining it in your eye or anyone elses is a good idea.Montcalm wrote:Does anyone knows if laser pointer can blind people?![]()
Cause if it does there are a few asshole i`d like to blind for life.

Or maybe it was running from guys who wanted to kick your ass for ruining their movie...., or how about hiding behind an usher to keep from getting your ass kicked because some guys wanted to pound you for using your laser pointer during the movie.![]()
Sell Fone? What is this Sell Fone you speak of?Just tell me you turned your cell phone off while you were in the theater.
Yeah, I did it to my friend's cat, she was running in circles and pouncing all over the place. I even got her to try crawling up my friend's leg, at which point he told me to knock it off.Ghost Rider wrote:Those things are great fun with cats....god they go nuts.
It's Buffalo and it's autumn. Your breath will do just fine. One word: Deodorant.
The effect of the beam being semi-visible is so cool.

Having worked with these, they can cause damage if you look at the spot or reflected light for too long. Direct shining into the retina can cause mild damage depending on exposure and simple wavelength of the beam, but generally it is a good idea to handle these carefully. They can and will cause optical damage if mishandled due to their ability to overcome the blinking reaction.Mad wrote:What about a Class IIIa laser pointer?Admiral Valdemar wrote:Typical pen or keyring mounted laser pointers are Class II, so no, they can irritate but blinding is not possible.
Yeah, I did that with a Steph's cats(a wifeling friend of mine) cats...eventually got them to leap onto their wussy dog(who's afraid of them).Kuja wrote:Yeah, I did it to my friend's cat, she was running in circles and pouncing all over the place. How about shutting up? The US military has never considered such a device, and blinding weapons are specifically illegal.Montcalm wrote:About blinding laser it reminded me of those so called non-lethal weapons i heard the US military were interested in a few years back, sure they`re non-lethal they just blind someone for life, kill him it would be more humane.
Rant off.
Which can't be said for some third world nations and even Iraq that enjoyed the idea of using such weapons to disorient the enemy, conventions or no.Sea Skimmer wrote:How about shutting up?
