There's no way they could have gotten a child actor for those scenes, and they needed to tell her story ...
You can probably find an 18yo who looks young enough. But the post below yours is dead-on. I thought anime was more appropriate too.

Tried that, with a variety of variations. But the only theater that will let me buy R-rated tickets(not to mention the only one within walking/biking distance) is only showing Kill Bill and Mystic River, which they know I wouldn't really go to see.

Got buses in your area? Or maybe an older relative who'll sneak you in?

Buses? Yeah, but none that run to the Springfield shopping center, Edgemont, or the King of Prussia Mall. Plus, I'd need an excuse to disappear for about four hours.

And no older relatives.

I think that Madsen's chapter in Vol. 2 is going to be the one most directly giving homage to Westerns.

True, which is cool, because O-Ren's chapter alone was enough to satisfy me. Mmm...Leone...

Don't you have any friends who you can sleep over with? Just do that, and then go see the movie.

Or just go to that theater which is showing Mystic River, and tell your parents you're seeing that (though it's also rated R, and I don't know what specifically your parents are objecting to). Mystic River is a fucking awesome movie; if your parents think you wouldn't want to see that, then either they need to get their brains checked, or you need to start liking good movies.

Why can't you just say you're going to see one of the movies that ISN'T rated R? You said yourself they won't check your ID.

Amazingly great film, and the black and white seen reminded my of an old samurai movie, much like when Toshiro Mirifune gets 'Mad' in one of said movies. 60-to-1 odds? Piffle, he laughs at thoughs. Now some things I noticed.....

-The cereal in the beginning is labeled 'Kaboom'

-Hattori Hanzo is also a character from Samurai Showdown. Don't know if this is coincidence or intentional.

Tried most of the options above, and none of them worked for varying reasons.
Why can't you just say you're going to see one of the movies that ISN'T rated R? You said yourself they won't check your ID.
Local theater only shows two movies, buddy. Thanks for the condescening rolleyes, you obivously know my local theaters better than I do.

All of this is moot, as I have achieved, through varied and devious means, the viewing of the movie. Fuckin' A. Wonderful movie.

You only said before it was showing two 'R' movies, you never stated that they were the only movies playing, period. Excuse me for assuming the more likely answer.

Having finally got around to seeing this I can say it fucking rocked! Good ol' Tarantino, I must get the soundtrack tomorrow.

Oh yeah, is it me or did the intro scene to O-Ren Ishii seem similar to Once Upon A Time In The West? I just found the music and general feel to be like when Harmonica finds his enemy.

Wow, great! I loved the anime bit, which was thankfully very well done, especially the part with O-Ren blowing away the guy in the limo. The music was great too, I like how they always played the oddest music for certain scenes, like the Mexican music during the Bride's fight with O-Ren

Yes, there's a lot of O-Ren scenes (among others) which are heavily influenced by Sergio Leone.

The music, which I shall hear again when I get the OST tomorrow, sounded a lot like Ennio Morricone's masterpieces. Very western like considering the obvious contrast with it being an eastern movie about samurai like assassins.

Well, the panflute player in the prominent panflute song is Zamfir, the same guy who played the panflute for Ennio Morricone. So, you're dead on.

And the contrast isn't as wide as you'd think...samurai movies have always been very much like westerns, and vice-versa. Just think of how perfectly Yojimbo and The Seven Samurai translate into westerns.
You've got total badasses, all with their own senses of morality, duelling each other in a lawless world, with helpless innocents looking on. That describes both the western genre and the samurai genre.

True, my Dad actually loved this film too and knows that most of his fave westerns are influenced by Kurosawa's epics. The upclose images of the characters are a Leone trademark, but then he is Tarantino's idol.

I also noted Bill used a Colt Single Action Army revolver, the greatest handgun ever made and the one that won the west. Maybe he'll be like Revolver Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid...

Maybe he'll play a harmonica too...

That was a Colt Single Action Army? Holy fuck how could you survive being shot in the head with one of those?
