As I'm about to pass out from sleep, I thought I might ask this here.
What hardware and software is best/needed to run a webcast of a basic line input?

Nullsoft has their free Shoutcast, which works well. Get a decent sound card for line in (at least M-Audio Revolution quality).

Don't you need linux for line in stuff? Or has that changed in newer versions?

Winamp has supported line-in for quite awhile.

Damn. I was looking at that a few weeks ago and the shoutcast site said you needed linux and the linux equivalent of win amp plus their shoutcast version for that to use a line in. Or i grossly misinterpreted. *shrugs shoulders*
