No wonder they're so ornery.
On a related note. I've seen a video clip with Denise VanOuten where she appears to be a nurse having sex with a doctor. Anyway, when they finish the guy tells her, "Clean yourself up babe, Star Trek is on". The whole scene is pretty weird but that part was funny.

I don't really have anything against Stackpole.

I simply say that it would take a direct quote from Lucasfilm to upgrade the status of the Holiday Special or the Ewoks movies. A second hand quote isn't evidence enough to change their status. They could insist on authors following them without making them canon.

I just remember running into one of my old friends from the High School Computer Science lab, at the reunion.

Introduces his wife and she proceeds to go on in length about favoritre Animes, Sci-Fi shows, and RPG's.

Me: You mean to tell me you found a female of the Nerd subspecies that's not lesbian?
Him: Yes, and She's MINE!
Her: *Cough* No, Your MY property!*Cough*

If you could provide the quote, I'd believe you. I'm just going off what has already been said. They've never been mentioned in the list of canon sources before. If that changes then I'll be happy to concede the point.

There was also at least one Droids movie. Let me check my VERY old Star Wars Encyclopedia.

Droids animated TV show, 13 episodes 1985, The Ewok Adventure 1984, Ewoks the animated TV show 26 episodes 1986, Ewoks Battle for Endor 1986.

HEY. I was looking over a time line and according to this C-3PO was activated 52 years before Obi-Wan was born. Anakin was born 5 years after Obi, clone wars was ended 20 years after Anakin was born, 6 years Han was born. But these numbers probly come from non canon sources.

I remember once reading about a scifi convention in Illinois where an informal study was conducted concerning which types of scifi fans were MOST likely to get laid during the convention. The breakdown , from most likely to least was:

Star wars fans
Anime fans
B5 fans
RPG Tabletop gamers
RPG Computer gamers
CCG gamers
Other
Star Trek fans

I got a good chuckle out of that.

The most disturbing thing about the Special was that I remember watching it on TV, but I was kinda young so it's more or less a fuzzy memory. Then when I comment to people about it they think I was delusional or something. So I begin to doubt myself, whether the Special actually existed or is only a figment of my deranged imagination, and that I'm beginning to slip into some kind of Star Wars-induced madness... (yeah right a female wookie watching a cuisine TV-show while chopping some vegetables on a kitchen table :P)

What makes it even less believable is that in my mind the young-looking guy in the black suit was Darth Vader, but back then I probably couldn't tell very well him from just some black-suited officer-type dude.

The Holiday Special is probably iofficial clsoe to useless. It has been made widely known that Lucas has desired to find every copy of it and burn ti so that his soul might rest at ease. Given that degree of dislike for it I think it should rank towards the very bottom of the official scale.

Where do I recall the Star Wars and Star Trek analogy: "Attack of the Clones is a movie I can feel comfortable taking my girfriend to. I don't even want to take myself to see Star Trek: Nemesis."?

As for that 'getting laid' study:

YES! First and second place! I'll be getting laid twice over!! God's in his Heaven, all's right with the world!!

So would every good warsie. And the Ewoks movies as well.

Unfortunately, like and dislike have no bearing on the standing of a source. If they did no one would ever mention any of KJA's shit, Crystal Star, Black Fleet Crisis, Barbr Hambly's shit, etc, etc. Hell, they'd probably all be burned. Instead they stand as a source as valid as any other.

It would actually make sense to *add* the categories together (whatever value you assign to each), going DOWN in the list as the number increases (so if you're 1 *and* 2, you probably rate near the third one. If you are the first 4 categories together, you might just as well be a Trekkie)

First off the Star Trek fan did the right thing to get the girl, but he did it the wrong way. He should of said something like no I have other plans tonight, or something, but he should have not mentioned Star Trek. But just going out when ever a girl wants you too will get you no where, and it also shows you have no balls.

If I had the choice of Driving a 'Cuda AAR around laguna Secca 3 times, or a romp with Claire Forlani, I am picking the AAR. The Chick can wait.

What is problematic about the Holiday Special is that, like it or not, that was when we first got introduced to Boba Fett. It was a key moment in SW history, and it has to manifest itself with... that... episode.

But as for Star Trek fans getting some, I have to say that at most of the cons I went to, the Trek fans were usually the most obese and insisted on wearing those horrifying TNG stretch-pajama costumes. Now, if they'd dressed themselves in skintight grey, with a thin black cord for a belt and a pizza plate on their chests and said they were the Death Star, I'd believe it. I'd even be able to appreciate it as long as they didn't bend over with a Zippo lighter and announce, "Commence primary ignition..."
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
