Punk/Goth lines are very thin at times. And everyone's allowed to make mistakes. :P

I was just posting the most underrated/unknown bands that are my favs. Considering i have just over 650 metal albums in my collection (this doesnt include bootlegs, of which there are hundreds more :P) a full list of my fav bands could potentially crash the server.

Oh, I haven't gotten into the more obscure stuff that I don't have on my comp at the moment... Course, I don't know *quite* how much there is.. but then again, that *is* *just* the goth/industrial/techno stuff...

Astral Projection.

An Israeli "Goa Trance" group, IIRC.

It's best that you're a fan of techno and trance first, but if you are, they're excellent.

Goth is punk's bastard love child. Siouxsie was one of the first goth bands, and as such, crosses the line into punk.

Zeromancer - industrial/goth glam. The band the Darkness want to be.
Picture House - cheery britpop sounding Irish indie rock. The guys who wrote the lyrics:
There's a chalk smile drawn in the road
It could be mine, I'm taking it home
It's for you, me and everybody I know
I'm giving it away

- just can't be sad to that song.
Saliva - I think they're bigger in the US than they are over here, but I want to have Josie Scott's baby.
Slash's Snakepit - yes, i know you've all heard of Slash *glares to make sure you've all heard of Slash* - but his recent stuff is excellent as well.
The Renegade Playboys - proper glam stuff. I know them very well personally (at least, I know Dave and Rob and their old frontman Toby), and they supported The Darkness at the Astoria before anyone knew who the latter were.
"I fight with love, and I laugh with rage, you gotta live light enough to see the humour and long enough to see some change" - Ani DiFranco, Pick Yer Nose

"Life 's not a song, life isn't bliss, life is just this: it's living." - Spike, Once More with Feeling

Metalheads of SD.Net, unite!

Post by Peregrin Toker »

All this talk about metal resurrects my idea about starting a metalhead usergroup!!! Thing is just - how do new usergroups get formed!!!

I think we should start by writing "Metalhead of SD.Net" in each of our sigs.... that way, we can at least recognize each other.

There are official usergroups--there is a section on the BB for them. I think the admin just has to approve it and create it or something. Maybe i should message Mike.

Specific niche subjects like metal music are too specific to justify the creation of a new user group and forum. Nor is a temporary increase in the number or frequency of posts/threads concerning a specific subject reason enough to create a new forum, private or public.

Zac everyone knows the Darkness, those who don't should. Pay particular attention to a track of there called "Love Is Only A Feeling". Therepy? are a good band from Belfast, along with Downpatricks very own Ash, and Derrys The Divine Comedy.

Evereve are a damn fine band that sounded alot like My Dying Bride when they started, but evolved into their own sound. Songs to get are the downfall and misery's dawn.

Superjoint ritual for some of the fans of anselmo's other work, i.e. pantera and down. This little offshoot is fast, heavy, and damn angry. Songs to get:Haunted Hated, the destruction of a person, sickness, the symbol of nevermore, everyone hates everyone, 4 songs.

Q2 theme music, Panzer Dragoon Saga theme music, songs to get: descent into cerberon, pure blood seed

PM5K = the ultimate metal sound to make you want to party, mixed with cool sci fi themes.Songs: any from tonight the stars revolt or transform.

Bal sagoth-already stated.

Children of Bodom - like sagoth, only not as cool, more mainstream metal sound, lots of synth.

Pissing Razors: one of the best metal bands i know of. Songs to get: any.

Cradle of filth - i just thought i'd add these, cos although they're well known, their introduction songs or intermission songs are great. At the gates of midian is probably my favourite cradle song in fact.

Aren't Cradle Of Filth considered sellouts by most metalheads?

There's certainly a large segment of headbangers who consider C.O.F. to be little better than Linkin Park.

Probably, but that's irrelevent, they're hardly not harsh when you listen to them and have been going for ages, i think these pretentious metalheads are confusing popular with sell outs.(plus their ubergoth appearence probably contributes to this as they'll undoubtedly think oif manson when they see them)

Their average songs can be a bit formulaic imo, but regularity isn't always a bad thing. As i said, i think their little instrumentals are great, and very atmospheric.
