Uh, do we have any guidelines yet? As I recall, Dalton was trying to work out a fair way to apply the GSDAs...

Here are the guidelines

"You will vote for Sheppard and his Unnamed Porno Fanfic or else"

WARNING: SHAMELESS PLUG AHEAD!!

In case nobody have noticed, I've now posted the 11th chapter of "The Wormhole War." However, I don't expect any nominations since the story probably won't be complete in this year.

Nope, but you know what? We can just sorta wing this thing...

A possible suggestion, however, would be for all authors to step forward and put down all the stories that have been updated this year, and then just choose from that... but I'm not sure if that'll work or not...

Actually that's not a bad idea. I can create a thread in Fanfics entitled "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION" and the author can suggest certain categories that they believe their work is strongest in and the people will have an idea of whats out there, when the time for the nominations come, Dalton has only that thread to visit at least here in SD.Net land, to cull out the nominees.

Any thoughts?

Why? You simply post the title of your tale and where it can be found in FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION and thats that. The AUTHOR self promotes in that thread to draw attention to his work. You would not be limited in any way

Meh, I suppose I should post a few more chapters of something in order to maybe get some nominations... but otherwise... no.

Are only fanfics being dealt with? How about original fic?

Also, I think Mike's use of characterizations of real people (ie, people on the board) in Reign of Terror is pretty good. Is there a category for that?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

No, don't think there is...

Also, I'd like to submit a new catagory:

"The "WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION?!" award for most fucked-up fic."

And then I'd like to nominate myself with any of the following:

Infinite Fun
Craziness
or, the just posted Love

Considering that its almost November, what do you guys think about starting a "For your Consideration" thread for fanfics that authors nominate, and if there are some categories that the author feels particualrly strong about they can put it there.

I can also create "The People's Choice" thread where fans nominate and suggest categories for different stories.

Then Dalton only has to look at those two threads when the time comes to choose the noiminees or however the process works.

Thoughts?

Yes Herr Sheppard!

I would suggest guaranteeing victory by getting those ideas we spoke about yesterday into place.
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."
-George Carlin (1937-2008)

"Have some of you Americans actually seen Football? Of course there are 0-0 draws but that doesn't make them any less exciting."
-Dr Roberts, with quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said in 10 years of SDNet.

If so, I nominate A Horrifying Tale Of Lt. Hit-Man On Vacation for "Goriest Fic" and "Most Spectacular Death".

As "Most Original Story", I nominate CaptainChewbacca's Scattered Earth: First Emperor.

However, the "Best Torture" nomination from me goes to "Whispers In The Fire" by Shinova.

BTW - even though I'd like to get some awards myself I'm not nominating any of my own fics. Firstly - I think that might be bad form, secondly - I'm not sure whether it's allowed, thirdly - I already rely on shameless plugs to make people read The Wormhole War, fourthly - I'm not sure whether my fics really are that good.

Simon, go over to the For your COnsideration thread and you can do all the self promotion you want, I created that thread for authors to brag about their works.
