I am not sure if my stepdad & his VA buddies qulify as D&D nerds....
some of them are into war reinactments, by stepdad & I have the tendancy to collect sharp objects, and keep decent stockpiles of them.....
My stepdad's collection is far more extensive then my own (dozens of cooking & specialty knives, Plus Foil, Epee, Cal. Saber, & bamboo practice swords.
My Stepdads: Vietnam Era "Gurka" Knives from Humong, VC, Anzac, & 1 actual Gurka sources. 1 Vietnam era US military combat knife, 1 WWI bayonette, 1 WWII or Korean War Bayonette, Civil War bayonette, 4 Bowie Knives, Roman Gladius replica, Actual Toledo naval saber (obtained from smith in Toledo Spain), 1 watered steel Scimitar (optained from bazzar in the Middle East), 3 Katana's, 1 wakazashi (all obtained from his sister-in-law who works for Bandai Japan), 1 Claymore Sword (first prize axe competition Highland games one year), half a dozen throwing axes, more cooking/utility knives then ME, more industrial knives then me. (Heh, at least I have two industrial knives he doesn't have, mostly because I had dissection class in college and he didn't (I still have my own bone cutters/PM knives in storage)

Those geeks are nothing compared to the ultra-elitists who berates everyone for not watching anime raw, and thinks anime should only be bought directly from Japan.Galvatron wrote: Anime geeks. I was being relaxed. I was just telling her to never listen to anything Prawn ever says. If I wasn't relaxed, you'd be able to tell easily.Dalton wrote:Relax, Spanky. By any chance they mentioned anything about themselves being in Japan ? If the answer is yes, you've probably encountered even rarer ultra self-righteous otakus, especially if they're not lying about being over there. If the answer is no, then they're the generic elitist pricks.Admiral Valdemar wrote:I've seen one or two of them at MT.com, damn they piss me off.Rubberanvil wrote:Those geeks are nothing compared to the ultra-elitists who berates everyone for not watching anime raw, and thinks anime should only be bought directly from Japan.Galvatron wrote: Anime geeks. Likely, there are many resident MT.com forum goers who live in Asia, namely Japan for obvious reasons. I rarely venture into the actual animé and manga forum anyway, they have discussions that either bore me or ruin series I haven't got chance to see yet. Oh yeah, they also have the odd elitist prick.Rubberanvil wrote:By any chance they mentioned anything about themselves being in Japan ? Strangely, the main forum is where people that hardly care for the webcomic reside.

I have a friend who's an avid LARPer, and he's not even remotely scary. Heck - he's not even geeky.

I thought that "nerd" was a corruption of the word "nut".SyntaxVorlon wrote:Nerd is an animal Seuss made up in his book, If I ran/owned/proprietated a Zoo.
(Understandable, since some nerds are quite nutty)

OK - V:TM LARPers who hang around the Eerie pubs in London because there's faux-gothic architecture and cocktails named after sins and Addam Family members.

Nope, Dictonary.com gives only the following possible etomology:Simon H.Johansen wrote:I thought that "nerd" was a corruption of the word "nut".SyntaxVorlon wrote:Nerd is an animal Seuss made up in his book, If I ran/owned/proprietated a Zoo.

And definition-wise a nerd is:[Perhaps after Nerd, a character in If I Ran the Zoo, by Theodor Seuss Geisel.]
So "nerd" has nothing to do with "nut."n. Slang

As much as I'd love to say anime nerds, I'm going with the D & D nerds. Especially those ones that walk around with dice bags. Now THAT'S a nerd.
Don't get me wrong, anime is pretty nerdy. Especially if you're a single fat and pimply faced American dude that jerks off in the parent's basement to it.
What about Goth nerds? I'm talking about the fatties that dress all in black and try to look like vampires. It's funny how they try to be so anti social while hanging out in their social groups.
