If it's Miller's early script, Cain is attacked by two ED-209's. The EVIL ROBOT's name in the movie is Robocop 2 (in the ads) and Cain (the drug-lord's name). If what I'm reading is true, Cain's name is "Kong" in the script, and he's a religious zealot.Sea Skimmer wrote:It's fucked up I known, but that’s what's in the script. Ok seriously, I'm only pointing out that whatever script he's been reading, ED-209 definitely isn't the bad boss in Robocop 2.
Even in the old script it was a junkie/fanatatic, turned giant cyborg. In the movie there aren't any ED-209's, but in the script there are. Just look for any reference of "Kane", "Kain", "Cain", or "Kong".
They say "We present you... RoboCop 2!" during the presentation and the earlier prototype videos... nobody actually calls him that during the movie.

Doesn't Kane have a shoulder cannon which fires explosive shells as well?IG-88E wrote:Yes, we are talking about Kane. That might kill off a few Stormtroopers. Maybe.

Don't know if he does. All I've seen is some kind of non-explosing heavy caliber or armor-piercing thing, that only dented RoboCop's chest armor plating (I think it hit once or twice before RoboCop used the heavy gun to blow it off).Antediluvian wrote:Doesn't Kane have a shoulder cannon which fires explosive shells as well?IG-88E wrote:Yes, we are talking about Kane. By the way, the cannon RoboCop uses isn't the same (can't be) as the one used in the first movie. It doesn't explode (the crane in RoboCop 1 wasn't loaded with fuel or gunpowder yet it explodes). Unless it was using a different kind of ammo.
Why not use the same gun? Probably because they aren't trivially issued to cops for everything. They were heavy assault cannons, RoboCop got one from the guys who were trying to kill him.

Correction: if memory serves, RoboCop used the heavy gun to also dent Kent's armor. He used his regular pistol to blow of Kane's cannon.Slartibartfast wrote:Don't know if he does. (note: if regular bullets are 7-12mm in caliber, probably Kane's cannon and Robo's rifle were some kind of 20-30mm thing)

Robocop's handgun is a Beretta M93R with some plastic plates glued on. It is a 9mm weapon.Slartibartfast wrote:Correction: if memory serves, RoboCop used the heavy gun to also dent Kent's armor. The rifles are heavily modified M82 light 50's, 12.7mm. However there effects are more like that of a 75mm shell, and blasts of the size shown in the original Robocop would have killed the users with shrapnel.

The Stormtrooper blaster is a Sterling L2A3 submachinegun, which also fires 9mm bullets, not blaster bolts. I'm talking about the gun represented in the show, not the prop. Omni didn't actually give RoboCop an old gun with plastic plates glued onSea Skimmer wrote:Robocop's handgun is a Beretta M93R with some plastic plates glued on. The gun's official name is the "Auto-9", not necessarily because it fires 9mm bullets (other than as an inside joke). Also the gun doesn't sound anything like a 9mm Beretta.
Similarly, the rifles aren't "heavily modified" (more plastic plates?) Barret M82s, they are probably some other near-future rifle. I think I've read somewhere it uses a 20mm cartridge.
I think the prop in RoboCop 2 isn't a Barret but a Pauza P-50.

Vis mod crap doesn’t change the caliber of the gun. They might not be actual M93R's or M82s but the caliber is going to remain the same unless they swapped barrels. The M82 barrel was defiantly not changed, and it seems unlikely that the M93's was.Slartibartfast wrote:The Stormtrooper blaster is a Sterling L2A3 submachinegun, which also fires 9mm bullets, not blaster bolts. Did you actually measure it? Are you positive it's 9mm? Can't it be 10mm?
Can you tell just by looking at a Desert Eagle whether it's .357, .40 or .50?
Have you ever heard of artistic license? Prop departments?
Vis mod crap DOES change whatever they want to change. They can call it a pulse gun if they want, and they can fill the ammo clip with 3 thousand bullets if they say so. I didn't see RoboCop ever reloading his pistol, did you? Exactly how many bullets fit the magazine of a M93?
The ONLY indicative you have of 9mm is that the gun is a Beretta M93.
And the gun isn't a Beretta M93, according to the movie.
