The Final Fate of Nom Anor

Post by JME2 »

We have a little over a week to go before the release of The Unifying Force, the 19th and final book of The New Jedi Order story arc. In less than a week, the fates of many of the key players will be decided and one that we all look forward to is that fate of the Vong Executor who has been causing trouble since the very start: Nom Anor. Should he survive the end of the The New Jedi Order or should his life end before we turn the last page?

Does anyone even care? The NJO had a strong middle with some great books, but the plot's turned very stupid and there's no way it can be decently wrapped up in one more small paperback.

Nitpick: Its a hardback.

He's a very Moriarity like character, I think they should finish him in that vein.

When is the street date BTW?

Out of curiosity, since all you ever do in NJO threads is bemoan the series, why do you bother posting in them?

Actually I rarely do that and post in few them anyway.

he does make a good point. NJO finally started getting good before the Force Heretic books and the last novel, there is no way this series can end now without being rushed.

Isn't 19 books a silly number to end a series on? Bah, I don't know why you people care about it- 20+ years after Episode VI, it's getting a bit ridiculous I'm afraid (Dune suffered from the same- by the third book I didn't give a toss).

I liked the idea behind the NJO, the overall story arc thing. It was more promising than Coruscant's crisis of the week that we were getting in the EU before that (with the exception of the X-Wing novels). However some of it was just so poor, I stopped buying the NJO after book 17 (or was it 16?).

Either way I request - nay demand, full spoilers on who is actually in charge of the YV (Shimaera or his shamed one), why they aren't a part of the force, and who finally comits the mass genocide that wipes them off the face of the galaxy at the end!

He should die. When you have a recurring villain like this you simply HAVE to kill him, in the end. Moreover, it is HIGHLY unrealistic that anyone who's personally responsible for the deaths of TRILLIANS of beings could possibly be even remotely accepted by the members of the Galaxy at large. Even if the GA were to forgive him, there would be elements that were out to kill him. With the number of people affected negatively by such a character, SOMEONE would eventually succeed in terminating him.

There's no books between "Reunion" and "The Unifying Force" right?

Force Heretic III, then the latest book, Final Prophecy, then Unifying Force.

The Republic designs a version of the Krytos Virus that targets Yuuzahn Vong and their creations and he's the first to be infected with it.

EDIT: This is what I WANT to happen. Of course it won't, so don't panic and think I've spoiled the end.

I have a question about NJO that i didn't want to start a new thread over as it's only a minor question. I just finished Destiny's Way and i saw that Ylesia is the next part. However according to my friendly Customer Service at WH smith Ylesia isn't a book? What the hell is it and is it important on the timeline?

Its an E-Book that was supposed to be released for free at the end of destiny's way. But due to some FUBAR at the printers, it wasn't included.

You can download it from SW.com here:

Yes, but I think first we'd better look at this except from the synopsis for TUF:

At the same time, the Jedi’s alliances throughout the galaxy are being tested—and the chances of victory jeopardized—by rogue factions determined to deploy the lethal weapon that will exterminate the Yuuzhan Vong . . . and perhaps countless other species.

Nom Amor will die.

More then likely, at the hands of Tahiri (note, I have not read Final Prophecy yet)

As to the end of the NJO; (Spoiler Space)

The planet (Zoma Sekot, I know that is spelt wrong) that might be the Vong homeworld will take the Shamed ones and Vong that turn against the Vong hiearcy as it's new citizens and depart

Coruscant will be rebuilt by the GFFA

Shimira will be revealed to be under the control of his Shamed one.

Anakin Solo might be resurrected by Tahiri using Vong cloning and the Lambiant Crystal in his lightsaber (its Crystal Anakin).
I doubts that last part, but I can see it happening to avoid a massive fan fueled assault on Del Ray books

I think part of the whole NJO arc has been about Nom Anor, he is the villan that has to die for the whole thing to end. I consider it something of the order that while Shimarra is the head honcho the guy who has been the mover and shaker is Nom Anor (much as the Emperor was the head guy but we really only cared about Vader). Now obviously that comparison is fraught with many problems but it does point to the fact that Nom Anor needs to die (or go away permanently) for there to be any conclusion to the story arc.

I agree; he was the first Vong we saw, the first of many antagonists with whom we have become aquainted with over the last four years, especially ince that, out of all 19 books (Not counting the e-books), Nom Anor has appeared in 14 of them.

i dont know if i want to to lill Nom now, i mean during and after Vector Prime than 3 books after Balancing Point i hated Nom. now that i see Tsavong Lah and Lord Shimrraa was much more power hungry and should be shot ten times over more than Nom Anor ive come to like Nom. He should survive to live in the underbellies of society and make a new type of Black Sun thing in the new Galactic Alliance galaxy
