I'm using Koss headphones right now. They're ok, but not spectacular.
I had Jensen headphones earlier this year, but the right phone stopped working and I couldn't trade in because the company went out of business. Those were great headphones until they stopped working.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I have a pair of Panasonic Studio Monitor headphones. I like them so much that I had my sister buy me a new pair after she chewed the wires on the old pair.

Are you sure this isn't like that time Michael Jackson stopped by your house so he could use the bathroom? - Superman

It's all about priorities. I figure that since my CD collection is worth a few thousand bucks I might as well have something good to enjoy the music on. After going to some live concerts I realized how much my previous equipment was sucking and how much I was missing out on, so I went and did something about it.YT300000 wrote:Ah, yes. Both of those are good solid entry level headphones.phongn wrote:Koss's PortaPro and SportaPros are very well regarded for the money, however, though they're a bit more than the average headphone in price.
Sennheiser also makes some nice 'phones in the Porta/SportaPro price range, look into the PX-200 and PX-100 headphones from them. They've been getting good reviews on headfi and are priced at 40-50 bucks. Going up about 10 bucks gets you the Sennheiser 497 which is the successor the to excellent Senn 495 which I own.

I wish someone reviewed cheap earbuds out there for those of us who can't afford SR60's or even SR40's / PortaPros or go on the move often. The only earbuds we have much information on are the MDR-888's, 838, EX-70, and Sennheiser MX series (good enough for anymore except us remote addicted kids who want shorter cords). Ears can be so subjective, especially on webforums like Head-fi.
By the way, how do the 495's sound amped by a portable?

Pretty darn good actually. Good clean sound though the bass doesn't sound quite as clear as the rest of the frequency range, but it's still better than most of what's out there. Plugging them into an amp (go go gadget Gilmore!) fixes that problem up. For portable use they're great as long as you don't bounce around too much since they don't clamp to your head all that tight. Jogging with them is probably not a good idea. They're nice light headphones and sound quite good, think of them as the baby brother of the Senn 580 and you're not far off.Ypoknons wrote:By the way, how do the 495's sound amped by a portable?
