History buffs! Attention!

StarShip Titantic and I are working on an alternate history scenario for the venerable Europa Universalis II. However, we have some rough spots to pave down and a few questions to ask. Therefore, I would like to know if anybody else who is particularly knowledge about history would mind being put on retainer so that, in the course of our research and development, we ever have a question, we can simply ask.

We are especially needing some clarification in the areas of the Far East, Indic, and Persian regions, but aid on Western Europe is also very welcome.

The forums at www.europa-universalis.com have a whole section for this.

Nothing modern, but nothing from before 800 A.D. as far as I can tell. In the alternate universe, the year is 1437, and the world is a very different place.

Some of the major changes include:

1) Turks never leave Central Asia and have instead seized control of several Mongol fragments. This means a stronger Byzantine Empire (although one still slipping into decay), plus surviving Armenian/Greek Anatolian splinter kingdoms, and perhaps a remnant of Abbasid empire (although Persia might still belong to the Ilkhanate).

2) William the Conquerer never attacked England, instead turning south and carving out a northern French kingdom, including the conquest of Paris. England is split between several Anglo-Gaelic kingdoms, plus possibly some sort of Danish or Viking holdings on the coast.

3) A Iberian-North African Moslem kingdom(not under the Umayyids; possibly Granada) ruled from Toledo. Still some small Christian duchies in the north, plus a medium-sized Leon.

4) Christians victorious in Crusades. This means surviving Crusader states on the Levant, vying with Muslims, each other, and Byzantium.

5) The Mongols were stopped at the Volga. Their empire has since fallen into several large chunks ruled by individual warlords, and an alliance of Russian principalities keep a watchful eye on the river.

Other possible changes include a Carolingian remnant in France, a Lotharian Lorrainian kingdom, and the Holy Roman Empire as an actual unified German nation, perhaps fighting off a mighty Austria or Hungary and a coalition of western German states. And there are other minor changes, such as a surviving Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, etc.

Anyone else willing to be put on The Very Nice List of Helpful People?
