For Games Workshop...I have no idea.Rye wrote:Ok, i assume this is the correct forum for this...does anyone know how i could apply for a job as a comic artist for some of their comics?
But a couple ways for Comics in general...which probably applies for GW.
1. Send submissions to editior...literally it takes a while but they do have an address to send to, and if you submit to a specfic editor, it might be seen.
2. Go to Comic Conventions and display your work for editiors that usually go there(I mean very big ones...make sure their appearing there)
3. Wait for them to have a submission frenzy(Marvel had one...but it's closed for now.)
Now for the most important thing before you show anything to any editor of comicdom.
Panel work.
It doesn't matter if you can draw decent looking characters ie Pinup....they honestly do not care. But they want to see if you can make a page flow through pictures.
That provides a ground basis...hope it helps

Check the Black Library, I'm seeing what I can get done for Inferno, I know they accept art submissions through there too.

How to contribute
That's from the official Black Library site so it should have everything you'll need. Good luck. And I expect copy of your work if I help you on your way to glorious things.
PS: Being a US citizen might hurt your chances some being as their UK based but I'm not terribly familiar with their policies.

The best way is to publish you're own. It takes a lot of work to put it together--scripting, concept art, all that pre-production stuff--but if its a decent mag with good writting and strong visuals there are a ton of independent publishers out there; you can even self-publish it. Its not going to be successful, and few people will read it. But it will give you experience, a great portfolio piece to shop around to other publishers and a great citation for you're resume. A lot of times you can meet people in the industry this way and get small-time jobs and maybe work you're way up to actual creative work on a mag. Major publisher's can at least see that you have a strong work drive and sense of creativity and it will at least give you an advantage over the unexperienced rookies. Course all of this takes a huge amount of work and its never easy. I'm not an expert in the field or anything but i came very close to considering it for a career. I took a lot of classes taught by professional comic artsists-- a great way to make connections and get advice.
I'll swallow your soul!
