Evanescence aren't that bad but i think that's because their lyrics can easily be interpreted as non-religious lyrics

I thought Christian Rock, though deserving to be mocked, simply would never get such treatment, due to apathy. So THANK YOU SOUTH PARK!

I'm happy with that. :)

A newspaper had an article on them, saying that CR was coming back. The fact that their guitarist wears a dog collar (religious one, not canine) was a bit of a clue as well.

It is rather unclear whether or not they are. In the past they had made comments that made it seem like they are.

Though recently, in an interview, one of the members was questioning why they were so high on Christian charts.

American and english christian rock tends to suck.

Some Australian stuff is okay, though there is alot of drabble out there too.

The new New Zealand bands from Parachute and The Lads are pretty cool, but The Lads arn't always christian, though the guys themselves are. For newzealanders theyre pretty alright. lol.
They sing about love, God, life, depression, canabalism <g>, and lonliness... and SPACE mwahaha.

*explosion of rock guitar sound*
Do you. Ever wonder? Wonder what is beyond this big blue ball?
Is there, something under, something underneath the surface of it All?

There's one Million Billion Planets, Spinning out in space,
Galaxies and galaxies who put them all in place
(he) set them all in motion
all the powers that can be
it's such a funny notion
That he would care for Me

Notice the rhyme? A song that rhymes and makes sense. What coolness.

or

"I crashlanded all alone
My ship was broken down when -I first saw you!-
A constellation on your own
The space between us was electric.
How you brightened up the sky.

You're a star (youre a star)
There will never be one like you -ah-
your a staaaaaar. Built to shine
would you be mine?"

etc.

Ive been waiting for this moment. Nearly time for me to fly

You're a star (youre a star)
There will never be one like you -ah-
your a staaaaaar. Built to shine
would you be mine?"

Do you feel the same as me?
Or is this just astronomy?
but I got this crazy notion baby
that maybe you would like to be with me.

Your a star (etc)

yes, these two songs are on the same ALBUM.

I'm going to close down my computer, I'm going to walk away, and I'm going to play AC/DC very, very loud to drown out the horrible voices in my head.

AC/DC will make it all go away...

Jenat, the lat two sets of lyrics could very well have been Earth, Wind, and Fire songs....

Nothing special about the lyrics, though, IMHO, it would have to be backed up with some big time musical talent to be good. AC/DC doesn't Rock simply for lyrics, you know. they just rock.

I'm suprised no one here has ranted about Creed yet.

I believe that they were taken off of the Christian charts because they were considered too secular. Either that or some of their songs were fast-paced and non-depessing, two things I usually don't associate with Christian Rock.

Gugh. Creed suck ass. Bloody moaning bastards. Just a morose and craptacular band whose only real achievement in my opinion was being involved with the scream 3 soundtrack.

I think that in some interviews, they've said that there isn't anything that was meant as Christian in the Christian rock type.

Some members are Christian, but that doesn't make the music Christian.

I agree, this episode ROCKED! I loved how Cartman kept ripping on Token for being black. Genius.

Plus the stuff about the RIAA and Lars Ulrich was just brilliant. After seeing the season premiere I thought that South Park might have been losing some steam, but after tonights episode I'm confident that they have plenty of stuff they can squeeze out of the characters.

My favorite line from that episode

Kyle: You don't know anything about Christianity Cartman!"

Cartman: "I know enough to exploit it..."
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Especially at the end when Butters....oh, well, I better not spoil it.

I'm sure if you go looking that its already up through Kazaa or one of its gnutella cousins.

Oh yes and back to the whole "Christian Rock sucks" point. I forgot to mention a few listenable bands starting with Jars of Clay who are actually pretty good.
