When I was growing up, I lived a very sanitized life. My mom never cussed around me, never let me see "Bad" movies (Aliens and the like) And so, when I finally was exposed to it, at age 12 or so (Kids cussing, thinking the word fuck was the funniest thing ever invented) I latched on because it was just so damned COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!
Enter Ariel. (My daughter) when she was very young I would watch R rated movies with her (YEs even south park) and when an "Objectionable" part came on, I would simply explain to her that this was not appropriate behavior. or that that wasn't real, it was only pretend, and just a movie. She accepted this explaination without question, and never once has she cussed (Except saying dammit, and even then she was only telling me "Daddy, don't Say Dimmit!!" (just like that...so cute)
The way I see it, if there's no shock value to the movies when she gets older (And inappropriate behavior by other kids) She won't think it's so neat, and "Taboo", and will hopefully shrug her shoulders and say "Meh." See that? I'm messing with her head, playing on kids natural tendencies to rebel....I'll let you all know how it turns out!
