Gradius III was the SNES game, actually. Gradius II: Gofer's Ambition was never released in the U.S., and came out in Europe as Vulcan Venture. Otherwise, you had it right; substitute crosspad L and R with the appropriate shoulder buttons to get the code to work.

The Konami code also worked on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, which gave you nine lives. Not that it helped in TMNT: The Manhattan Project, though.

Every kid that survived the 80's has one thing in common: they all owned the original Star Wars action figures.

Collectors these days have all the mint-condition, unopened originals in their cardboard sleeves. They sell for hundreds of dollars. How can that compare to the scratched, cracked and marred figures of Luke, Han and Leia that brought every 5 year old priceless amounts of happiness? I still have my old Landspeeder--one of the fins cracked off and the front hood-piece mysteriously missing--,all of my old figures (ROTJ Luke with half of his facial paint scratched away from age, the mysterious Prune Face that everyone had, OB1, Han and Wicket the Ewok), and what remains of my Death Star playset. Hell, i still have my read-along ROTJ audio tape, with R2 beeping every time you had to turn the page. Star Wars and Childhood During the Eighties are synonomous.

Blacktron legos were the shit
Word. They were the ones that would come to Legotown to loot and plunder. Buncha little badasses.
You knew all the words to Labrynth, and thought that you would have made it through much more easily than she did.
check.
The Real Ghostbusters (the cartoon series) was shit and you knew it but you still watched it.
I'll kill you!

Bohemian Rhapsody's from '75.

The one with the hard plastic hair over one shoulder? That's a Weequay. I've got that, 2 R2-D2s, C-3P0, Chewbacca, Endor Leia, Wedge, and ROTJ Luke.
-You constantly wondered how, despite all their shooting, no one in GI Joe never got shot.
So true. They were all horrible shots.
-Anyone you knew could gain instant prestige if they could beat Mike Tyson on Punch-Out.
Mike Tyson wasn't that hard. I remember the big ruckus it caused when they removed his name from the game, though.
-You wondered what Jawas looked like under those hoods (and you still do.)
:D
-You still have that huge bucket of Legos somewhere.
 Three buckets...
-You have ever broken a Transformer in teary frustration trying to transform it.
Nope, mine are all still in good shape, except one rusted Optimus Prime. Although the Starscream I bought at a garage sale is missing one wing...
-You would have given everything you own if you could live in that Tron world.
Hell YEAH!!!
-You envied the kid down the street who had all six Constructicons.
Nah...I had the beast one (with Hungrr as the torso) and the military vehicles one (with Onslaught as the torso). Plus I had Fortress Maximus. I was the one the other kids envied :D .
-If you can punch in "up, up, down, down, left, right, B, A, start" in less than 3 seconds.
Yep. Only way I ended up beating Turtles II.
-thought liono was bad ass, but thought the the thundercats all had very little thought put into their names
ROFL...I liked Panthro. The series got worse once they added the other three from the Tower and Snarf's nephew or whoever the crap that was.
-think that these new razor scooter are just smaller collapsable mongoose scooters
They're not done by the same company? Dang, guess my old scooter won't be an antique.
-wanted a pair of oakleys
Oh, yeah. Some of my friends brought back cheap knock-offs from Mexico.
-the person who could put 5 Atomic Fire Balls in their mouth at one time was a a minor God.
Does 7 make me a moderate God? Those things were weak. Warheads were much better (though I think those were early 90s).
-the fact Smear The Queer wasn't an Olympic sport was a travesty.
There was one downside to being the shortest kid in sixth grade...Smear the Queer hurt.
-Drew Barrymore was the little girl from E.T.
And she was such an annoying brat. I'm glad to see she grew out of it.
-Blacktron legos were the shit
Still have them. With instructions.
-tuff kids had ducktails
Are those the same as rattails?
-your first skate board was purchased at Kay-Bee toys
Would have been if the guy next door wasn't a semi-pro. I got one of his old hand-me-downs when the top layer peeled and he didn't want to risk shattering it on a half-pipe.
-You wondered why the Airforce didn't just build Robotech planes, because they were so much cooler...
And they look so much like Tomcats anyway... :P
-You never got sick of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video
Still haven't. I wish I still had that album (yes, the vinyl).
-Once you got the theme song to Denver the Last Dinosaur in your head you would sing it for weeks.
:headbang: I was fine until this one came up. That was the most annoying show ever.

No, the character is actually named Pruneface, and he has a white, E.T.-shaped head and an eyepatch. He's from ROTJ but he's never actually seen in the film; he was a background extra from the Rebel strike force on Endor. If you squint, you might make him out in the background, out of foucs, walking around during the rebel meeting on Home One or something. Anyway, he was one of the more mass-produced figures so everyone had him but nobody knew who he was because he's never seen in the film.

A lot of you children are confusing the 70's for the 80's. :x

Bohemian Rhapsody was realeased in 1975, and is NOT 80's music, for whoever said that. :?

Original Star Wars figures came out in '77, anything later than that aren't original. Especially Weequay! Return of the Jedi figures are another world...
BTW, if you don't instinctively call ANH Star Wars, and everything that came after it by it's individual title, you're a whippersnapper! :D

Claiming to be a child of the 80's because you were born in '86 is like me trying to claim to be a child of the 60's for being born in '67.

Sheesh, kids...... :D

Huh. I've never seen that one. (oh, and I forgot the Scout trooper figure I have. A little battered, but still good). I think my cousin (who gave me most of the ones I have) only bought figures he could recognize.

I have that on a DVD somewhere, I think. I know I have it on VHS, though, from ages ago. Wasn't it re-released a few years ago?

I remember a VAST quantity of the 80's, naturally. And I can associate with a lot of the toys that you probably wish you had, like random rare Star Wars toys (I have Prune Face's HEAD in an old box). I was still buying Lego up until a few years ago. I have truckloads of the stuff.
