Muppet Yoda vs. CGI Yoda
As well all know, the muppet Yoda was seen in Episodes I, V, and VI, the CGI for Episode II (and presumably III).

Okay, out of those of us who went to the theater to see AoTC, who didn't see people literally LEAP out of their seats and or Cheer when Yoda started his infamous whoopass scene with CD? *Raises hand*
I was a dumbass who instinctively jumped up and cheered. I couldn't help it. It just...happened.... The coolest lightsaber unsheathing EVER

Ahh crap. I am once again slapped in the face...when will I learn?

The physical Yoda puppet from ESB is just easier to connect with. Of them all, I'd say that Yoda looks the most alive in ESB.
But the AOTC CG Yoda is really well done, and has some great moments, such as the medium close-up where he's glaring up with his head at a downward angle while parrying with Dooku. The way his expression works while he speaks is wonderful.

You remind me of a guy who, when anakin's arm got sliced off jumped out of his seat and yelled, "Look! It's a flesh wound!"Chardok wrote:If this ain't gonna be the lopsidedest post since "Whats your favorite batman movie"

CGI, if only because I vividly remember the fight with Dooku.
No conscience. No law. No stopping them....
....well, maybe a Happy Meal would do it.

I still think Furlings look like tribbles

The muppet Yoda. The animators never managed to get that plastic-look off the CGI Yoda, it seems he's always "moisturised".... the again, 800 years does that to a skin. (Hum, how much would he spent in beauty products?)

I'm not a man. I just portrayed one for 15 years.

Well, technically the CGI Yoda was better than the puppet Yoda. It simply did things that the puppet Yoda could never have done, and was only identifiable as a CGI character due to that very fact. On the other hand, the CGI Yoda, while very impressive, already has some serious competition from other CGI characters (such as Gollum in The Two Towers) and will probably be completely surpassed in a few years' time, while the puppet Yoda still stands as one of the greatest, if not the greatest puppets in the history of cinema. Tough call, really.

Yeah, he's certainly as well known as, say, Howdy Doody and Kermit the Forg.Drooling Iguana wrote:Well, technically the CGI Yoda was better than the puppet Yoda. Well he was the star of a early children's TV show of the same name. He was a marionette type thing and is the character that Toy Story's Woody was based on.Howedar wrote:Howdy who?
This really dates me doesn't it since I know who Howdy Doody is. I am also a History buff so that might exonerate me on that.
