Hrmm. It appears that titles do not like the Ş symbol. That should be an Sh, then.

Thank you. The closest transliteration I can provide is "Şeriat", but as it turns out the board is not formatted to handle that in the title space, so Sheriat works best next...Colonel Olrik wrote: Fixed it for you, Duchess

Heh, funny. I quake in fear of an organization that only has a few thousand members and even the countries it's based in throw them in jail.

Funny-- they don't even confront the Sunni-Shia'a split. They talk of 'adherents of the four Muadhabs', which would include Hanbali, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Wahhabi, but totally sidestep the Shia'a issue. Those spineless cowards! If they cannot even decide who gets precedence over the Caliphate (direct descendants of the Prophet or the most observant individual regardless of pedigree) then they are just another bunch of wankers.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

If Islam accepts the Bible as a legitimate religious work, that means the Koran can be summed up in 6 words "Here's some more commandments, I forgot."
Why is it that none of the major religions are cool? The New age stuff is a revival of paganism, and Islam and Mormonism (with the revealing angel named Moroni, very appropriate) are of the "more commandments" variety.

How is that any more unreasonable than "I sent part of myself to Earth so that I could sacrifice myself to myself in order to appease myself and then sit at the right hand of myself in Heaven?"Setzer wrote:If Islam accepts the Bible as a legitimate religious work, that means the Koran can be summed up in 6 words "Here's some more commandments, I forgot."
On the contrary, paganism is quite cool. Many pagan traditions involve orgies. Straight orgies, not Catholic-style gay pedophilic stuff. Why is it that none of the major religions are cool? What is your problem various religions having more than just the Bible? Even your most ignorant fundie doesn't believe that "God's holy word" just descended out of heaven one day. It was a compilation of works spanning several centuries. That very fact proves that the Bible itself is (to use your terms) "more commandments, I forgot"Setzer wrote:If Islam accepts the Bible as a legitimate religious work, that means the Koran can be summed up in 6 words "Here's some more commandments, I forgot."

Did Jesus "forget" to dictate the Revelation given to John while he was alive? Why do we need 39 books in the OT when God could have just given everything to Moses (or who ever it was that really wrote the first five books)?

I thought that Hizb-ut-Tahrir were quite a large organization worldwide - in Denmark they've definately gotten a lot of attention since a year or two ago.evilcat4000 wrote:Why do you pay attention to this ? Hizb-ut-Tahir is obviously out of their minds, they are no more threat than an unarmed racoon. No body even knows them. I am a muslim and even I have never heard of them.

You do know a significant number of the ethnic minorities over there are Muslim, right? Not to mention the non-fundamentalist half-Pakistani's.

Christian theology has a tendancy to be rather mind-bogglin, which is probably why Arius and others revolted against the concept of the Trinity: it made no sense to him.Darth Wong wrote:How is that any more unreasonable than "I sent part of myself to Earth so that I could sacrifice myself to myself in order to appease myself and then sit at the right hand of myself in Heaven?"

huh? me?You do know a significant number of the ethnic minorities over there are Muslim, right? Not to mention the non-fundamentalist half-Pakistani's.
er..yes. i know that. but the vast majority of Han Chinese are most certainly not. heck, they took the trouble to name buddism in particular. and then let's not mention Taoism...
i mean, the PRC has it's faults, but islam trying to make an enemy of China and non-muslim Chinese everywhere is absurd...

The spirit of God can be described like the spirit of this webboard. We all sort of let our hair down and talk about stuff we wouldn't do normally.Darth Wong wrote: How is that any more unreasonable than "I sent part of myself to Earth so that I could sacrifice myself to myself in order to appease myself and then sit at the right hand of myself in Heaven?"
In a similar vein, Jehovah and Jesus can both be part of the spirit of God and be seperate beings.

Sorry, but while you may act differently on the board than you do face-to-face, you're still the same person.Setzer wrote:The spirit of God can be described like the spirit of this webboard. And how does this explain the nonsensical idea of sacrificing himself to himself in order to appease himself so that he may sit by himself in Heaven? Take whatever analogy you want, and it doesn't work. If Jesus is part of God, it doesn't work. If Jesus and God are separate beings who are joined in a sort of collective, it still doesn't work (if you're pissed at people, why would you let them kill one of your buddies in order to make you feel better?).In a similar vein, Jehovah and Jesus can both be part of the spirit of God and be seperate beings.
I say again: the New Testament is no more of a reasonable addition to the Old Testament than the Koran is.
