How should Episode III end?

How should Episode III end?
Here's my idea:
Palpatine declaring himself Emperor, cut to destruction of Jedi Temple and Imperial March.
Then, cut to Mon Mothma, adressing the Rebels and declaring that Palpatine will be stopped. Cheers going up and we see the final battle of the SW movie saga: The seizure of the Death Star plans and the escape of the Tanative IV.

Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

Luke is in his 20's by the time of ANH and will be probably a newborn baby in Episode 3.
I think Episode 3 will end with Palpatine seating in his throne on Coruscant with Vader standing behind him and watching legions of marching stormtroopers and walkers. Then some cut to well known SW areas where imperial troops taking over control.
Everything is dark...very-very dark.

THe Funeral of Padme Amidala, a full Imperial affair with the blame of her death lying in the hands of the Jedi, particularly possibly one obi wan kenobi (which is BS propaganda, but most people dont know that) Darth Vader shortly afterwards takes the head of Mace Windu.
The Jedi Temple is Dismantled, not simply destroyed, but torn down brick by brick.
Palpatine cuts off a communication with Grand Moff Tarkin in order to speak with Vader.
Episode III ends with Ben Kenobi Delivering Luke to the Lars Residence, and Yoda delivering Leia to Alderaan before heading off to Dagobah. why Yoda?
"He was our last and only hope..."
"No, there is another..."
Seems like Yoda was the only cat who knew what was goin down at the time. Other than Mister Bail but he went up in flames with his planet.

In RotJ, Leia had some memories about their mother. This suggests that Padme spent more time with her. So, I think it was Padme who carried her to Bail, not Yoda. But it is still interesting that Kenobi was likely unaware about Leia.Darth Fanboy wrote:Episode III ends with Ben Kenobi Delivering Luke to the Lars Residence, and Yoda delivering Leia to Alderaan before heading off to Dagobah. why Yoda?

Off- topic:
Well, on second thought they (Luke and Leia) must be extremely potent. Think about it: there was 10,000 jedis. If we count 100 years per jedi (training + active service), it means that the territory of the old republic produced 100 jedis per year. Even if half of the galaxy was destroyed, there were born 50 potential jedi babies per year. So, in the first two years Kenobi had 100 to pick up one from (before the emperor) and raise as a fully trained jedi.
A rioting crowd surrounds the Jedi Temple, decrying the Order as ambitious. The Jedi hold back the crowd as best they can as the Council tries to answer their accusations, but all it does is inflame them more. Eventually, a familiar voice pipes up from the crowd. Anakin steps up with a group of Imperial soldiers and orders to place the members of the Council under arrest. The Council huddles and is unable to decide. Then the crowd bursts through the cordon as Anakin nods sigificantly to some of the Council members. There's a running fight through the Temple as the Order tries to evacuate the Council.
Anakin and a number of turncoats slice up dozens of Jedi, including most of the Council, while the mob ransacks the Temple. Some Jedi surrender to the soldiers they encounter, others lay down their lightsabers and let the crowd destroy them. Dozens more Jedi, including Windu, who tries to defend the artifacts of the Order without harming the people. Yoda finds Count Dooku. They fight, Dooku falls. Anakin runs into Obi-Wan. They fight, Obi-Wan wins, but can't bring himself to kill his student, so he leaves him, hoping he'll expire of his wounds.
Anakin soon recovers and heads for the library, gathering troops and his allies as he goes. He is there when the mob reaches it. He commands them to disperse. When they fail to do so, he orders the others to attack and drive them out. Meanwhile, Yoda and Obi-Wan meet up with a few survivors, who all mount ships and leave Coruscant. Many of those ships are captured by Imperial ships before jumping. Yoda and Obi-Wan collect Padme's children and take them to two different places. Padme receives a visitor soon after, who uses Force lightning to kill her.
Soon after all this, Palpatine, surrounded by his guards, receives Anakin and his allies in his throne room, along with a group of bound Jedi. Palpatine tells them that they can no longer resist, as we see of the dead in the Temple and Imperial troops spread out through the galaxy. Then, the Emperor delivers a speech, with Anakin and several other Jedi, including some of those prisoners, at his side, announcing the formation of the Empire and the end of the Jedi, as Yoda and Obi-Wan's ship flies over Alderaan, then Dagobah, then Tattooine.
It ends with Obi-Wan, a little older, returning home and putting the lightsaber he will give to Luke in a box, with a sigh, then looking out at the suns setting.

Actually, Bail Organa was supposed to be a widower so that might only mean her adoptive mother. Remember that Leia at that time still didn't know who her parents were so that line doesn't mean a whole lot.In RotJ, Leia had some memories about their mother. This suggests that Padme spent more time with her. So, I think it was Padme who carried her to Bail, not Yoda. But it is still interesting that Kenobi was likely unaware about Leia.
Argh, A BIG SPACE BATTLE must be in the last half of the show. Preferably on a known SW world, I'd perfer Alderaan but Corellia or something of the sort would be great.
Anakin's and Obi's fight should be the middle of the movie that leads to the ending sequence of the battle and the elimination of the Jedi and the first moves of the Empire taking over.

Why not have the big space battle at the beginning? My idea would require the plot of the movie to involve the Jedi taking the blame for the brutality that Palpatine engages in to become Emperor. This battle could be the defeat of the separatists by the clone army. Then over the course of the movie, the people find out the Jedi raised that army and led it, and that they oppose Palpatine. Of course it's propaganda, but it has a lot of truth to it, such as recordings of the Trade Federation spheres launching from Geonosis and being destroyed on Anakin's orders. I imagine the situation coming to a head when that gets out, then Anakin admits his actions, declares himself a victim of the Jedi's cruelty (Qui-Gon left Shmi in bondage years ago, then they never told him what became of her unil he went to Tattooine to find out and went mad on the Sand People) and begs the public's forgiveness. They, of course, take him to their bosom as a tragic victim of the Jedi Order's power lust and manipulation.
I would imagine that, since Lucas likes his little motifs, the begaining of the movie will show a small skirmish or the end of some larger battle. IMO, this would be a good place to introduce a charater like Tarkin.CDiehl wrote:Why not have the big space battle at the beginning? The battle sets up the final battle and also sets up the political debate and strife in the Sennate which Palpy is controling as his alter ego plans the final battle.
We next find out that Padme has buns in the oven and through some plot device, probably to get her away from Ankin so that some sense could be beaten into him, she is escorted by Obi Wan to some planet (with lava pits) but not before Obi himself talks to her and she and Obi agree that Padme and Anikin were bad and what ever....
Palpy finds out about the kids and about the Jedi's plan to seperate the two and calls Anikin in and tells him that the Jedi have taken Padme against her will and that he, Palpitine, fears for the life of Padme and the life of the kid (Palpy and therefore Anikin only knows about one kid at the time). In a typical rage, Anikin goes after his wife and unborn kid.
Palpatine then sends Dooku after Obi and Padme with orders to kill both so when Anakin finds them, Palpatine will have an opening to recruit him and turn him against the Jedi.
In the Senate, plans are made to end the Clone War by drawing out the majority of the Seperatist Fleet. A major Core world will play a tempting target and Alderaan is chossen. Feignting weakness, Alderaan prepares for an attack by the Seperatists while looking vulnerable. The Jedi, including Mace Windew, send a vast majority of available Jedi to Alderaan to participate in the battle.
All through this, Palpatine pulls asides members of the Senate and comments that he is worried about the ever presence of the Jedi at the Senate and other places.
Dooku intercepts Obi and Padme on some world with a convienent lava pit. Dooku slaughters the clone troopers that were sent with Obi and Padme and then fights Obi. Padme flee's at the request of Obi into the hills while a saber fight goes on. At the end of the fight, a stalemate, Dooku see's or feels Anakin show up and leave without Anakin seeing him.
Anakin finds Obi looking like he's been in a fight and see a bunch of dead clone troops that Anakin knows were sent to protect his wife and assumes that Obi has kill the troops and probably his wife and unborn kid.
The lightsaber battle that everyone has been waiting for for 20 some odd years happens. At the end, Obi assumes that Anakin is dead and Padme shows up and cry's. Obi gets her out of there and heads off for where ever.
Meanwhile the battle is ready to go. A Republic fleet under Admiral Tarkin is stationed mere minutes away, via hyperspace, from Alderaan and the Seperatists show up and swamp the Alderinian defense forces. The Seperatists land a ground force and attack the major cities of Alderaan.
On cue, the Republic fleet shows up and a grand battle ensues both in space and on the ground. Durring the battle, Dooku shows up and lands on the lead Stardestroyer and gives Tarkin his final orders from the Supreme Chancilor. (Tarkin has been in on the plot, more or less).
The battle wraps up with a resounding Republic victory though the damage and deaths on Alderaan are horrific (can you say they want pacifism now) but the Separtists as a movment are done. Reinforcements land but the Jedi and Republic defenders are suprised to find Count Dooku emerge from the shuttle with new Stormtroopers.
Mace and Dooku fight as the Clone Troopers and the Stormtroopers slaughter the Alderianian defenders and the remaining Jedi. In a classic 'Rocky' type moment, Mace and Dooku are killed roughly at the same time as are the rest of the Jedi on the battle field.
Later, on Coruscant. Palpatine shows the results of the battle to the Senate. Loss of life is terrible but the war is over. He also shows the Senate an appearent coup attempt by the Jedi at the end of the battle when the hologram shows Jedi attacking Republic troops.
Sad that the Jedi would do such a thing, Palpatine takes the awesome and somber responsibility of Dictator so that he can cleans the galaxy of remaining Seperatists and dismantle the Jedi Order so the galaxy can be safe from spoon benders trying to control them.
Later, Palpatine goes to his office and Vader is there, suit and all, and asks if he is ready to start his training in the Dark Side.
Last scene is Obi and Padme splitting up the now born twins. Padme will go to Alderaan where Organa will protect her since he is still thought of as a loyal Senator. Obi will take the son and go to Tatoonie where the boy has some semblence of a family.
Obi is kind of a shovinist in that he disreguards the possibility of the girl needing to be trained in favor of the boy but has dedicated the remaining years of his life to protect the boy and then train him when the time comes.
In a nut shell, thats what I would like to see.

Knife, good idea. I'd add that, at the beginning of the movie, the war is going against the Republic, because Palpatine is pursuing an official policy that is not that harsh, against the advice of the Jedi, who are trying to end the war quickly. As it happens, the Separatists are doing the same, on Count Dooku's advice. When Palpatine finally lets loose later on and crushes the Separatists, he states that it was on the Jedi's advice. In reality, he is controlling both sides. He is also stretching out the war to wear down the people, so they'll accept the New Order when he presents it, and quietly planting stories in the media that link the Jedi to the increasing brutality of the campaign. This undermines public support for the Jedi. Finally, he lets the Jedi learn of his true plans, expecting them to act against him, so he can declare them traitors. Anakin delivers the coup de grace, with a public denunciation of the Jedi and personal affirmation of loyalty to Palpatine.
Luke asked her specifically about her real mother, and the novelisation wrote that she was surprised because she had viewed her adoptive parents as real ones. However after that surprise she remembered a pretty but sad women, hiding in a box.Stormbringer wrote:Actually, Bail Organa was supposed to be a widower so that might only mean her adoptive mother. Final scene: Cue the Imperial March. Palpatine pulls on his dark cloak in public for the first time while Vader, in full armor, stands behind him. The camera pans around and we see we're on a spacecraft of some kind. Cut to an exterior shot of a shuttle, clearly an ancestor to the Tyderian shuttle, with Vader and the Emperor visible standing behind the pilot through the front window. Cut back to the interior, from behind Palpatine and Vader as they survey an enormous shipyard, with thousands of ISDs in various stages of completion. Close up of Palpatine, solemnly surveying his war machine under sonctruction. Cut to close up on Vader's mask, with the scene through the window reflected in his lenses. Hold until the March reaches a suitable flourish.
Cut to end credits.
Cut to end credits.

No one in the Rebllion seemed to really know, you would think that if they did it would have been awkward when a kid named Skywalker showed up at Yavin IV.

I am aware that none of the Rebels ever knew who Vader really was, nor would they be likely to care. However, the audience does know it. It's reasonable that Anakin could publically denounce the Jedi, then Darth Vader carries out the destruction of the Jedi, without any reference to being Anakin. It might even serve Palpatine's purposes to have Anakin "disappear" soon after denouncing the Jedi. Obi-Wan might encounter him after this change, and recognize him by his fighting style or some comment by him that only they know. I certanly don't expect Anakin to show up in the mask and introduce himself as anything but Darth Vader, because the change can be explained as a break with his past.

Warning: SPOILERS FRON TFN!!
- The Battle of Coruscant will be the biggest space battle the Star Wars franchise has ever seen. Expect to see some cool capital ship vs. capital ship warfare. Each side has lots of varied looking warships. The Republic has ships that are more than just Star Destroyers. Might even see an old Ralph McQuarrie design or two get put into place here.
- Expect one of the final shots of the film to be Vader, Tarkin and Palpatine on a Star Destroyer bridge looking out onto space at the beginnings of a Death Star in progress...(but not necessarily THE last shot of the film...) my understanding of the last shot before iris out will be on Tatooine.
- When Padme faces Anakin on Mustafar, Anakin is incredibly upset with her when he realizes she brought Obi-Wan with her. She led Obi-Wan right to him. From Anakin's point of view, he trusted her and she betrayed him. Anakin force-chokes Padme and throws her aside (where she also hits her head.) Then, the duel begins amidst the corpses of the slaughtered Seperatist leaders.
- The twins are born on a brand new never-before seen world (whose name has not been revealed yet.) They land there when they realize that Padme isn't going to make it if they keep pushing on to Alderaan. The natives of this planet resemble little grey close encounters/roswell aliens. Padme finally succumbs to her wounds suffered from Anakin during the birthing scene. She is able to share a few choice words with Obi-Wan before passing. Bail, Obi-Wan and Yoda hatch the plans for what to do with the children. Bail sees to it that C-3PO's memory is wiped. Yoda is dropped off via escape pod at Dagobah where he will await the proper time to do his part. The jedi have been utterly duped and defeated by films end.
- Medical droids turn the remains of Anakin Skywalker (now named Darth Vader) into the classic trilogy cyborg Darth Vader we know and love. His reveal is very "Frankenstein." (He lays on a slab that slowly rises up when he is completed.) When Vader rises, his first desire is knowledge of Padme's fate. Palpatine calmly and cooly tells him that she is dead and that he(Anakin/Vader) killed her. His sorrow and regret result in an awe-inspiring physical manifestation of the dark side of the force. The entire room buckles and twists away from his anguished screams. Every droid in the room is obliterated. Palpatine has to muster all of his powers just to shield himself from Vader's wrath. Vader's echoed scream segues directly into the next scene: Padme's funeral procession.
