Clan of The Cave Bear
No, I don't think this is fantasy, but if someone wants to move it then
Anyway, who's read Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M Auel and what did you think?
There will probably be spoilers, but one thing I thought from the beginnign was that it was predictable as Hells.

I read it aaaaaaaaaaaaages ago and can't quite remember, actually. What I do remember is all the sex that went on during the movie version.

According to one of my friends they get pretty pornographic later, but this just had a few rapes, that weren't heavily described.
But as she makes a big deal about everyone shagging everyone else, I'm sure the movie would have sex. It's not like it could have had dialogue...

When I see it listed on TV guide or something, I confuse it with 'Cave Man'. But all in all, I'd rather watch 'The Gods must be Crazy.'Zoink wrote:I saw the movie, but I keep confusing it with that "Quest for Fire" movie that came out. But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I read the whole series several years back... I think there's been more, but last title I recall is "The Mammoth Hunters". I can't recall if that's the one I'm thinking of, but the final book (at the time) had Aya and her mate returning to his home along the Danube. The Yosemite Bear wrote:note to remember I have also read a bunch of other pre-historical fiction by others too....

jean M. Auel is pretty damned good
I have read Clan of the cave bar, the valley of horses and the shelters of stone. Overall, it is a pretty damn good series of books. Yes, they tend to be a bit graphic at times, but it is nothing to be ashamed about. Hell, I like the fact that she is willing to put a little sex in there when the situation warrants it.
Re: Clan of The Cave Bear
I've read the first and third books. The third one is much much more entertaining if a bit like a romance novel (lots of sex).InnerBrat wrote:No, I don't think this is fantasy, but if someone wants to move it then

Clan of the Cave Bear itself was okay but now that you mention it, it was predictable. I probably didn't notice like I should have because I'd already seen the movie.
