name of a song

gday all its been a very very long time since i last posted but i had a question im hoping one of the many here may be able to answer

the other night on teh way home from friends i heard a song on teh radio of a guy haveing a fiddle/ violin contest against the devil and winning a gold fiddle. it is a song that tells a story and has a lot of fiddle playing in it. was hoping someone knows what im talking about thx all for the help

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band.

Quite a well-known classic country song from the 1970s (I think).

The Muppet Show once did a musical sketch for it.

Yes, It's a song from 1970, and it's killer in concert!
They even made a sequel to it back in the late '90s, the video had Travis Tritt as the Devil ;)

Or, if you're from the greater Baltimore region, it could have been "The Devil Went Down to Dundalk," on 98 Rock.

That's just as catchy. And a hell of a lot funnier. :D
