... On a totally partisan vote in the House.

The GOP couldn't muster enough votes in the Senate to railroad Clinton on partisan lines, and they knew their "evidence" wouldn't stand up to the light of reason, so they went for a censure instead, which has dick-all effect on the president's ability to run the country.

Yes, and that other impeachment, in 1869, was bullshit as well. Your point...?

It's unfortunate that Nixon wasn't man enough to stick around and take what was coming to him, and it's more unfortunate that Ford pardoned him.

Nixon wasn't doing anything more than any other politician at the time. He was just unfortunate enough to get caught.

And you think most Presidents aren't banging a few people behind closed doors?

Oh, most likely. Kennedy certainly was. I feel neither Clinton nor Nixon deserve the demonization that they tend to receive from certain parties. Most people tend to polarize heavily to one side or the other when talking about politicians: Washington was a great man, Lincoln one step down from a god, Kennedy had his Camelot, Clinton or Bush the Second (depending on which party one is) happens to be the greatest evil ever spawned. It's ridiculous to go that far in hatred and just sheer ornery.
