As for the title change, well, they may be searching for more money, but I suspect they are cutting the throat of the Trek franchise in terms of long-term profitability. Voyager did enough damage, and Enterprise may well be the final nail in the franchise's coffin. The only good thing about the two shows is that so few people can or will watch them, which minimizes their effect on the casual fan of Trek.

Quite true. Didn't their deaths hit Spock with a psionic shock reminiscent of Kenobi's reaction to the destruction of Alderaan? Or am I becoming senile in my dotage?

Re: Bird of Prey?
The design isn't half-bad. It does look like a TOS RBoP with slicker nacelles, a hair more detail, and of course a green hull.Tsyroc wrote:In the preview for the next episode of Enterprise the Romulans are
briefly mentioned and we get a glimpse of what I am assuming to be a
Romulan Bird of Prey. The ship design looks mostly like the orignal
TOS version but the nacels are reworked to suggest the influence of wings in
the styling. Plus it looks like the color and texture of the ship is more like the
TNG era War Birds.
I should have known that B&B and Parmount would squeeze the Romulans
into Enterpirse just in time to give Nemesis a little push.
Anyway, I thought the ship looked kind of cool before it cloaked.
I'm giving ENTERPRISE a chance. I really am They really pissed me
off with the introduction of Ferengi last season, and the appearance
of a barely altered CGI used to depict a D7/K'T'inga-class battlecruiser.
I do like the Suliban as a whole...for some reason, the lispiness and
slight "gayness" of the Suliban leader makes him more menacing to
me. As an enemy alien they've been handled pretty well overall.
The only thing that irritates me about the upcoming Romulan episode
is the cloaking device. The Romulans ARE extreme isolationists, but
a cloaking device already?! Come ON. They're supposed to fight--and
LOSE!--a war with Starfleet in roughly ten years. With a cloaking device
and even the most rudimentary starship weapons (nevermind what Spock said about "primitive atomic weapons," one good hit from which would blow
NX-01 out of the sky), a cloak-capable Romulan fleet should make
*mincemeat* out of Starfleet. Maybe the cloak is crude, but I say
again: come ON!

Like that's going to happen. They couldn't even keep it right in one show much less an entire franchise. Look at the shuttle, crew, and torpedo fuckups. Frankly, this is no more than par for the course with those two morons.Master of Ossus wrote:God damn them. They were supposed to leave TOS continuity alone. And didn't they say that the continuity was flawless? The mere existence of such a ship in Enterprise precludes their continuity.

Im watching this piece of garbage right now. How did an episode with the Romulans in it turn into a fucking character building episode? Oh... My... God....More piss jokes in Star Trek? Damn you B&B.... Damn you.... Maybe two BoP's blowing up Enterprise and killing a horrible show might save the episode..

How'd they manage to turn themselves around while floating in deep space? If they pushed off with a twist, it could work, but they didn't.. Re: Bird of Prey?
Actually, the Roms should be in Enterprise. In TOS, "The Enterprise Incident", it's mentioned that Terrans were at war with the Roms about a hundred years earlier -- putting it right smack in the Enterprise timeframe. B&B will undoubtedly screw it up, though, by letting humans see a Romulan or group of them, which supposedly didn't happen until "The Enterprise Incident" -- remember how Kirk's bridge crew was shocked when they saw a Rommie and realized they looked like Good Ol' Spock? Yeah, those brainless bastards will screw the pooch, bet on it.Tsyroc wrote:In the preview for the next episode of Enterprise the Romulans are

Actually, it was "The Balance of Terror" where they finally found out what the Romulans look like. And Enterprise starts in 2151, ten years before the end of the Romulan War, and the formation of the Federation. I have no clue if they think Enterprise will go on for ten years, but i doubt it will last 3.Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:

Here's the thing about Enterprise....as long as I pretend that it has NOTHING to do with the rest of the ST universe , I'm fine with it, its a watchable show(Its not Farscape....but hey) As soon as I attempt to reconcile the show with the rest of the ST uni it all falls apart and turns to shit.......

A flatter ship makes sense from a combat perspective its a harder target to hit from head on .which is how they usually fight

I kind of like the reworked "Bird of Prey" and mostly enjoyed the episode. The stuff with Reed, Archer & the mine went a little long but the rest was fine.
I like the idea that Earth came into official contact with the Romulans before the Vulcans. I hope they follow up on this thread in episodes to come.

Actually, ya got that wrong, pard'ner. According to the ep, "Carbon Creek" humans actually came into contact with Vulcans (although they didn't know it) back in 1957.Tsyroc wrote:I kind of like the reworked "Bird of Prey" and mostly enjoyed the episode. Yes, but "Carbon Creek" is a piece of garbage. The only difference between that script and toilet paper is that toilet paper is soft, because that script had to be made for wiping your ass.Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:

What I meant was that a human ship (the Enterprise) had contact with the Romulans before the Vulcans had any real contact with the Romulans.
I don't know where you were going with the Carbon Creek thing since wether it was 1957 or FC time frame humans were in contact with Vulcans long before Enterprise takes place.
