Remember Unicron? What about Primus?

Post by Dark Primus »

Those who has only seen the Transformers TV-series probably don't know who Primus is, but those who have read the TF Marvel comics should know who he is.
A God who became the planet known as Cybertron, homeworld of the Transformers and also the archenemy of Unicron.

Here is a fan art picture made by Dreamwaves' Don Figuroa (sp?) of Cybertron Transformed into Primus.

And I must say I'm very impressed. :)

Nice, but a little too "toyish" for my tastes.

Yes.... he does rather resemble the BW Neo Unicron toy prototype, come to think of it.

I thought the whole point about Primus was that while Cybertron was his "body", the Cybertrons themselves were his means of influence and power. So why would he even need to transform?

Kinda hard to put a boot in unicron's mouth when you're nothing but a large metallic spheroid.

That's why I said that the Cybertrons were Primus' means of influence and power. Primus' only planet form is his means to protect himself and the Matrix (or whatever it is that he possesses or was at the heart of Cybertron), and the Transformers were his "hands".

I swear that I read something like that in an official G1 source or based on official G1 evidence.

No, Unicron had an entire body. When he was destroyed, all that was left was his head.

It's not too bad, and a little bit like a a toy rather then Unicron.

My problem is weaponry...Unicron had none because heck...he was a planet, why have gun(and before reality strikes in meaning stylistically). Primus should have more style to him like Unicron did and not look like a doll form of a planet but actually a giant robot akin to Unicron.

It actually looks a little like Takara's unmade Unicron prototype from their Beast Wars Neo line.

Well, a lot of Don's TF designs are made with toys in mind. For example, his TWW design for Optimus Prime could easily be done in plastic and be faithful to his art. It's probably lingering influence from his Macromaster kitbashes and comic. The TWW design for Jetfire is more or less Don's kitbash design named Strikefire.

Anyway, maybe this alternate form was something Primus considered and rejected before deciding to create his children instead. As such, only blueprints were left to show what might have been.

Now we at least know why Unicron transformed in the movie

He wanted to get Primus to transform for a good old space brawl....

Why do I suddenly have a vision of the Death star approaching Cyberton, and it transforming into Primus and using the Death Star as a kickball?
