That movie was pure mindfuck. I liked it, and not just because of that kiss between the two guys in the rain at the end. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I think Fight Club is overrated, myself. But probably not the most overrated movie ever.

Actually the christian idea of the hell underworld and monsters and stuff is hellenised, from the greek concept of Hades and his realm.

Nah, fight club is great, you heretic. :D

Personally i thought Saving Private Lion was overrated, i didn't actually care about what was happening to the people after the beach storming.

So? The romans didn't actually call it "hell" did they? The greeks (who the romans ripped their entire religion off and just changed the names) called it "tartarus""

private lion is an Adam and Joe Toy story reference. I was tempted to say either that or "Shaving Ryan's Privates" but Ryan is my name, so i didn't. :D

Nah, fight club is great, you heretic.
Theoretically, if a good movie has an enourmous amount of hype surrounding it that makes it look like the best movie ever, wouldn't it be considered overrated?

No, only over-hyped if it didn't live up to the hype.

It would only be overrated if all the critics said it was the best movie ever, but it really sucked or was only okay.

Those who have criticized Gladiator, the Godfather, and Tarantino movies, you will shortly be visited by a lone vengeful Sicilian mobster who will proceed to murder you all in a horrible bloodbath. You knew the risks you were taking.

Most overrated movie of all time? Grease. My fury towards this movie cannot be expressed through mere words.

I agree that a lot of Tarantino films are overrated, they are good movies, but not the great films that many people act like they are.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is perhaps the first movie that was subjected to a MSTing (long before there was even a MST). The movie itself sucks, but the audience participation is a blast.

I view Overrated as some movie, many people love and praise to no end as if it's the greatest piece that genre has ever done...but when viewed or read it's at best mediocre.

For me...some overrated pieces are Titanic(sorry the movie is regarded as some fantastic love story...ugh) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon(shyeah greatest foriegn film :roll: )
Personally I really liked Titanic. An in person I have only met a handful who didn't. It's only on boards such as this that I meet people who actually hate it.

Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;

Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

There are lots of "bad" movies.

Any "historic" film with a fucked up history
Many Hollywood movies based on non american movies.
Most fims made by Emrich(ID4 , Stargate , Gozilla ...)

Aside from Titanic, Pearl harbour and Citizen Kane, I would like to add Armagedon, I haven't been abble to see this movie in one entire sitting, Deep Impact was much better IMO.

I thought Deep Impact was lame. The movie was too focued on a pair of dog-faced kids going through the motions of a romance and the unrealistic family life of a newscaster. The best actors in the movie, Morgan Freeman and Robert Duvall, were relegated to "supporting actor" status.

I agree, but in general the story, along with the more down to earth acting was much better. (And why do these two movies need to have a "need of the many outweigh the need of the few" kind of crap? Can't they blow up a fucking rock without comminting suicide? Sheesh!)

It is not enjoyable. It is a worthless, despicable lump of trash and assorted waste that has somehow garnered the status of 'classic'. It is possibly the second-worst John Travolta movie ever made.
