Conservatives tired of Bush

So, the "Dean's won me over" thread has got me thinking: how many conservatives and libertarians on this board are so fed up with George W. Bush that you wouldn't vote for him even if the race was close? And if so, what do you plan on doing now? For the sake of accuracy, I ask that only people who would normally vote Republican answer in this poll.

Myself, I'm voting Libertarian. Bush can take his spending, his Ted Kennedy education bills, John Ashcroft, his diplomatic clusterfucks, his fundie friends, and all the rest and go back to Texas.

I'll be staying home, thank you very much. I would vote Libertarian if they would get someone with a realistic grasp on foreign policy.

Right now I'm thinking Dean, but if he gets squeezed out in the primaries then I'll have to look hard at the guy that ends up on top of the pack. Either way, though, even if every Democrat still ends up being some kind of Ted Kennedy clone, I'll vote third party before I vote Bush. THe guy has torqued me off on many levels...

Bah, the day I vote Libertarian is the day they have a realistic chance of getting more than 0.5% of the vote. On one side, you have Shrub, whose ability to carry out foreign policy sucks. On top of the fact that he's about as fiscally conservative as ol' Slick Willy, and his record on civil rights sucks. On the other side, you have a bunch of "tax and spend" liberals. None of them want to cut spending. Instead, the best you hear is "control it's growth." And they've all sworn to raise taxes and will undoubtedly support all further measures to stomp out civil liberties.

So really, this next election is sorta like having to choose between Hitler and Stalin. As a result, I'm going to vote Bush for president, and if I'm feeling evil, I'll vote straight Democrat for the local congressional races.

You didn't put a 'lesser of two evils' option. I WOULD vote libertarian, if they came up with a candidate that was pretty moderate, and had a chance in hell of getting any significant percentage, and there's really no telling who's going to be the Democratic candidate at this point.

At this point, I simply do not know.

Errg, frustration rising.

While I'd perfer not to vote for Bush at this point, I really don't see an alternitive right now. Dean really hasn't won me over yet. If he wins the primary, I'll see how far he slides to the middle before making my choise, but as of now he's got me sitting on the fence about him.

Out of the nine or so running, I'll grit my teeth and vote for Bush at the moment. I don't like it, but Meh.

Disclaimer, this is now. Not necessarily my feelings come one year from now.

Let's get something straight: I don't believe the Libertarians will ever elect a President unless one of the major parties collapses. The best they'll ever do is send people to Congress. However, if the Libertarians start drawing enough votes to be a spoiler, it will be a sign to both majors that people who are ideaologically aligned with the LP represent a significant voting bloc whose views must be accounted for. At which point either a large segment of the Republican party becomes socially liberal or a large segment of the Democratic party becomes fiscally conservative. Either is acceptable to me. And that's why I vote LP.

It'll depend on who ultimately is the Democratic challenger. If Clark ever gets his act together and commits to a platform I'd highly consider voting for him or Kerry.

But I'd rather have Bush than Dean though. Dean's policy towards Iraq and our soldiers basically consists of "crossing his fingers and hoping." Bush's isn't much better but at least he's trying. And Dean's national health care idea is a fiscal disaster waiting to happen. I'd like to keep some of my money thank you very much.

Ultimately it's going to be who ever is the lesser of the two evils. (It's elections like this that make we wonder how much longer the American democracy will survive)

Bush has made some errors, steel tariffs, mishandling the diplomacy before invading Iraq and not planning adequately for the post Iraq situation but in general he has been a good president and I plan to vote for him in 2004.

Besides I am almost a single issue voter and he is the only prominent candidate who is anti-abortion.

Come election day, I'll be voting for Bush becuase I can not stand the idiotic defeatist and Socialist policies of the 9 Democratic party candidates. I feel that the Economy is beggining to rebound and what do not need now is a Tax hike. That will only create further problems. Also, I approved with Bush's idea to go to war with Iraq to liberate the populace from this monster and I do not the foriegn policy posistions that the democratic 9 have taken. (fromm Dean's abandonment of Isreal to Kucinich's let's all pull out of Iraq and leave the Iraqis to fight a civil war.)
