Damn messenger

Post by Rye »

Ok, i have the latest msn messenger/msn plus, but for some reason windows messenger (an older crapper version that comes with windows xp) loads up of it's own volition and annoys me with "you have signed in at another location" which is very frustrating.

I can open it and there's an option for "run in the background" and i uncheck that and close the program. I thought that'd fix it yesterday. But today it's doing it again. Any ideas how to stop this old version or how to remove it completely?

Actually, if you go into the options, there is a checkbox you can uncheck so it won't load on startup. I'd tell you exactly where it is, but I deleted the offending folder some time ago. ;) I think its still on the machine in the other room.....

edit:

Apparently if you install .Net, it updates Messenger so you can't tell it whether or not to automatically load on startup. However, you CAN tell it not to run in the background if you go into the Options. Then just close it normally, and delete the offending folder from your hard drive (Program Files\Messenger\)
