We make better toasters than anyone else. We also make better ice cream bowls, ice cream scoops, spoons and food-storage appliances than everybody else. Our chocolate syrup is second to none, and for those of you still hording prewar HIDE Raspberry Syrup, well f**k you.

I would claim an advantagein Biotech(being able to "uplift" non-sentients you know) We also would claim some advantage in engineering*designing tentacles that actually work cant be easy)

Other thn that, the Union is open to Alliances and treaties

hmm... So long as your species can survive in an aquatic environment, or make reasonable accmodations to keep the gills of a Cephapod wet such an agreement would be possible. We even have individuals who would be perfectly willing to do other things wth said tentacles

Other than that, would a general trade agreement or mutual defense treaty be to your liking?

We are quite sure that the the Stuart Corporation does not need biotechnological service from other (possibly inferior) sources, we are willing to allow foreign scientists to exchange ideas and possible technology, for a reasonable counter-offer, of course.

The Star Kingdom would do well to remember it isn't at the top of the heap these days. Those nations that choose to mistreat those of the Alliance WILL be mistreated in kind. Those, however, who observe our status as a nation-state will be released at a neutral port.

The HAB considers such condemnations to be useless gestures, the scum of the galaxy will not fear mere threats of what might happen should they prove incompetent. Only through the direct application of firepower at the source will the problem be removed.

The act of piracy is a crime against the freedom of merchants to control their goods. It is intolerable. Our merchant marine are armed, an they will resist. Any Alliance ship that attempts to dock at one of our ports will be Tractored in place, scanned before they dock, scanned after the dock, searched, and no illicit goods or transactions will pass through or take place at our ports.

Any attack on our merchant marine will be met wth deadly force, and will be considered an act of war against the Union.

Your vessels have been observed to prey on Star Kingdom-flagged merchant vessels in neutral space and even neutral ports since your "inception" as an organization rather than a loose pack of rabble. You would do well to remember that your drunken, loose and pathetic excuse for spacers are no match for the trained spacers of the Royal Navy.

Now, if your Alliance decides to join the rest of civilization and act in a wholly responsible, civilized and orderly fashion we may decide to grant your shipping the 'rights' that all others have.

Failing that, we may as well feed you to the Ambassador to the Lost.

While the Star Kingdom agrees in principle with this, the Royal Navy is stretched thin and is unable to undergo unilateral offensive operations without leaving the rest of the Kingdom dangerously exposed to attacks by aggresive third parties. The HAB would do well to remember the Great War that occured three hundred years ago and the opportunistic attacks of the Kzin.
