The official Revolutions DISCUSSION thread
Because I like to play mod (eh eh), I'm starting this thread
SPOILERS AHEAD - DON'T READ THIS IF YOU'RE STILL TO WATCH THE MOVIE
OK, you've been warned.
I liked this movie. Much better than the first, Smith had a clear goal and wasn't wandering around, Neo didn't whine, and Morpheus acts more than he talks. Now, for starters, two questions
1) Did Neo really die? We see some of Smith's victims ressuscitate, and we see Neo's body being taken away, no evidence it's dead. Also, the Oracle implies he may return some day in the ending scene.
2) Is the child (forgot her name) the next (or maybe THE) one? She said she was responsible for the sunset, after all.

they didn't have EMP bombs in the city, only in the hovercrafts. They did indeed explode one and stopped the first assault, but at the same time fried the remains of Zion's first defense line, much to the changrin of Zion's forces commander (the only guy who seems to know what he's doing, I don't know how he managed not to tell the council to go fuck themselves many times during the movie).MKSheppard wrote:Eh what a fcuking let down, just fucking detonate those EMP bombs

Stupid, I know, but that's how it is.
Oh, and I'm positive those mechas weren't designed by engineers. They are the horrible result of giving military projects to art bacharels. The scene where the Mecha force commander died gave me an headache. The fucking mecha remained intact, and he died of superficial flesh cuts (!).

Or just stockpile them and make their systems and mecha emp proof. Don't be too hard on them, they're just morons. But it is a good movie.MKSheppard wrote:So? rip them off the hovercrafts and place them in the city. gaaaah!Colonel Olrik wrote: they didn't have EMP bombs in the city, only in the hovercrafts.

I agree about the EMP, I would have fired one off every damn time I saw a squid.
Where the hell were the other ships that he was depending on oh so much did he just waste them before the robots got to the city?
And wtf the sun is shining and happy only a few hundred/thousand feet above ground level. Why not just pile up a bunch of crap till you reach above the clouds. Making mountains could be possible with todays tech but at extreme cost, with the machine's tech and resources they should be able to do it hell they have the whole worlds resources available to them. Let's forget that this wouldn't be necessary if they just used nuclear power, gahhhh!
By itself the movies was pretty good, especially those seens not envolving Neo. Smith really sold his performance. My only gripe is that they seriously didn't put any thought into what the machines would actually do instead of making stupid choices like human farms.
Bah, I'll just write off the Matrix universe as plain old dumb and move on.

we already saw what setting off an emp did....
remember, you set off one emp to close to the others, you destroy the mechanism that sets off the others
the dock was small enough that you couldn't possibly hope to space them far enough apart.

About EMP:
Perhaps the way it works in the Matrixverse is unable to be shielded against? Oh well.
Anyone else notice the BLUE sky above the clouds? It was my understanding the blue came from reflection of the oceans? Or am I grossly wrong?
Also about the machines using light from above the cloud. Anyone else notice the sentinals died when they hit the nano-cloud thing? Perhaps thats related?
All in all I thought it was well worth the money and my time. I might even buy the DVD. I think Matrix is like those shitty ass beat em up games like Dead or Alive. You whack it in, have a jolly and put it away, no brain needed.

You're wrong, the blue horizon is provoked by the atmospheric composition effect on light. landscapes far away seem bluer than landscapes right in front of you. That's also why different planets have different horizon colors.Super-Gagme wrote:About EMP:

Blue sky comes from the thickness of atmosphere, and it's act of splitting incoming light much like a prism..

I enjoyed this movie much more than the pervious one. I think there are a lot of things that can be easily nitpicked about it though.
I thought they finally made the outside world somewhat interesting. I hadn't cared for it much in the previous two movies.
One thing I really enjoyed was the Neo/Smith "Superhero" style battle. I did hope that they'd start tossing a few of those lightening bolts but then I always did like that "god" crap.
I was disappointed in how easilly and quickly the people of Zion jumped to the conclusion that the war was over and that Neo had do it. I thought they should have included Morpheus, Niobe and perhaps some others in the Matrix coda so they could find out what happened from the Oracle and the other reset programs.
It was interesting that people got messed up in this one and that they actually killed major characters.
I think this one stayed away from the mumbo-jumbo pretty well. It crept in there some but to me it only hit the annoying level a little at the end when the Oracle was talking. It didn't help that the end credit music sounded like they were shooting for some psuedo-religious crap.

Well there weren't that many reasons why the Sentinels would suddenly just stop then lift back off and leave.Tsyroc wrote: I was disappointed in how easilly and quickly the people of Zion jumped to the conclusion that the war was over and that Neo had do it. True, I just thought too many people took the kid's word for it too enthusiastically and too soon. Especially since the sentinels were still tooling around in the dock area.SylasGaunt wrote: Well there weren't that many reasons why the Sentinels would suddenly just stop then lift back off and leave.
If I were them I would have been inclined to thinking that it might be over but I wouldn't have been cheering my ass off until I knew they were gone.

I liked it, but could entirely understand if someone passionately hated it. It was that type of movie.
So, the people of Zion are OK with the rest of humanity being in the Matrix? Sure, yeah, they are "unconsciously accepting the choice" of being there, and the ones that don't get released, but its not an informed choice. I don't know how many people would continue to accept their fate if they truly knew what that fate was.
The defense of Zion was cool; not plausible, but it was awfully cool, and I kind of felt attached to these characters this time around. The final confrontation with Smith was awesome; the bullet time punch to the face drew quite a reaction from the crowd I saw it with.
And Seraph is my overall favorite character of the trilogy. He's the Matrix's Boba Fett.

The mechas might've been designed by the machines for the Zionists to find and fight with (dunno if Zion had the resources to create its own vehicles, and we know from the first movie that the Nebuchadnezzar was too old to have been created by Zionists). Makes for easier prey.Colonel Olrik wrote:Oh, and I'm positive those mechas weren't designed by engineers. They are the horrible result of giving military projects to art bacharels. During the final fight, I was thinking "Matrix Ball Z." Fits rather well, actually: just replace Neo with Goku (taller, dumber, more hair) and Smith with Vegeta (shorter, meaner, receeding hairline).
I mainly feel cheated since I was expecting the questions poised in Reloaded to be answered here... but those issues were barely touched. Then again, I can't feel too cheated since I went to the bargain matinee to see it...
Later...

Judging by what the architect said they will have a choice with humans who wish it able to leave the Matrix at any time they choose.aronkerkhof wrote: So, the people of Zion are OK with the rest of humanity being in the Matrix? Indeed it certainly looked damn cool (and I'm quite frankly surprised any sentinels got out of that tunnel given the amount of fire the defensive turrets and APUs were dumping into it)The defense of Zion was cool; not plausible, but it was awfully cool, and I kind of felt attached to these characters this time around.
