Hmmm.. suggestion. Bring Q and Mitchell down and put Palpatine all the way down at the lower corner all three in the background. Make the backdrop of course black with stars. And the very top could be the under bellies of approaching star destroyers?
Very nice though, now get a pencil and start drawing the thing out you!
And write more chapters!

I noticed that people seem to be stuck using a crappy low-res picture of Gary Mitchell. This is unfortunate; if anyone wants a much better-quality Gary Mitchell picture to work with, here ya go:

Here's my attempt:
*old version removed*
This is not finished, as you can see it lacks the TOS team, and the SW picture wasn't the best either...

The best part about this is you don;t even have to read the story. The main elements are:Oberleutnant wrote:Damn, I have to try making something for this "competition" after I'm finished with my exam on Saturday.
Heh, I haven't even read Star Crossed (yet), but it's something that has to be changed in the near future.
The villains: Gary Mitchell, The Emperor and Lord Darth Nemesis
The Heroes: TOS Trel folks, especially Kirk, Leia and Q.
And it helps to show stardestroyers and starships in the background.
Some suggestions for future possible cover elements:
Thrawn, a chessboard, Vader, A borg cube, Defiant
Wherever you go, there you are.

Actually they're from this pic. The one right next to the Eclispe, just simple copy and paste.Exonerate wrote:Karrde, did you get those ISDs from the game Rebellion? They look like screenshots...

Since everybody else seems to be trying to incorporate as many elements as they can, I decided to put together something much simpler:
Also, I tried to make the image look like a book cover.

Well, here's my rough and ready version, I might add more to it later. It's bloody big, even the small png is 100kb, so I'll be posting the small one here, and linking to the big one...

I wanted to add more of a battle, but it's a bitch finding decent fleet shots of either side. And it was starting to get complicated.

I really like the simplicity of Red Imperator's design, something very attractive about it.
Lumberjacks' looks very close to the cover I can see in my head, particularly the way it resembles some of the older Trek novel covers and includes many of the elements I like, particualrly Q's look. I always imagined the cover to sort of have Q and Gary as larger than life figures dominating the cover but faded and in the shadows much like the story, they ARE the background if you gte my drift.
I'm having alot of fun seeing this stuff coming together like this.
I'm also interested in seeing people's different takes on the story reflected on their covers.

So when does the contest start, anyway?
