Fanboy Transforms into Fanwhore mode:

Stravo you bastard! You never even told me how much MINNNEEE sucked

Phases back:

I like REdImps Idea the best Actually, but the Large Imperial logo on its own with the tiny fed ship doesnt seem like the right match, either go with Two logos or possible two ships/character, that'd be my input.

The only thing for Red's cover I would suggest would be to change the Imperial emblem to one that's not embossed and is more blended into the background.

You know, I didn't notice before but your title is very cool in that you have the Federation symbol and the Imperial symbol worked into the font. I like that alot.

The faded in glossed look is a little artsy for me but then again considering my hack job I should be the one keeping quiet about other people's work.

Just for the record, I class mine as finished and ready for the comp, as I can't think of anything more that I could put in without making it too cluttered.

Oh, and Fanboy, I quite liked the bizarre glossy touch as an image, wouldnt like it as a book cover, but it was new and different... :)

We should slap some dimensional things on this here competition. Well not as a rule but as a reminder/suggestion

Im horribly guilty of this myself, but if were doing book covers, shouldnt we all be using dimensions similar to that of a hardcover book? (Because if this gets released of COURSE its gonna be hardcover. Paperback is for pussies. )

We could also give the artists the option of also illustrating a back cover as well as we see in hardcover books. The more space the better to capture all the cool elemenst of the tale.

I will try to work on a back cover when I get home tonight but I was thinking of two columns, one with the supporting villains and heroes. Kahn, Piett, Jerjerrod, Darkstar (in the coming chapters) and another column facing them with supporting heroes: Scotty, Sulu, Chekov, Worf, Captain Pike and Charlie X.

The center would be dominated by either a chessboard or the Deathstar.

I've made a minor adjustment to the logo. I didn't flatten it, because I want the logo to appear to be three dimensional against the flat black background, but I removed the glow. To be honest, I'm not sure how I like it.

That's a lot better. Not exactly how I'd do it, but I've always had rather simple tastes when it comes to art composition.

Personally, I like the way RedImperator and SeebianWurm have gone about it, using clean and simple layouts rather than busy ones.

I like the font that SeebianWurm used for the title, VERY nice alothough I would go with a darker color closer to black than the current brownish red.

When you refer to the color, I assume you mean the background starry effect/TIE fighter, but the wording is a little ambiguous.

If that is what you meant, it seems that any color closer to black makes too much of the detail disappear. Would a light shade of cyan/blue/aqua work for you? I've been experimenting with it and I like it a lot with the light blue shades.

Yes, darker blue works for me, and the background is what I meant, sorry I wasn't clearer before.

I thought it was implied that it was a book cover, but it does seem that it can be interpreted either way.

Anyway, the use of space just strikes a chord with me.

You could make a really fantastic book cover or movie poster incorporating all of the major characters plus starships and symbols and whatnot if you could draw all the elements from scratch. Trying to combine elements found on the Web doesn't work very well with more than two or three items, because it's virtually impossible to find more than two or three things with a consistent visual style, in my humble opinion.

Operative term being "if you could draw all the elements from scratch."
