North Alabama continues its march to the tip of Division II Football, as this week they are now ranked Number 2 in the nation:
UNA MOVES UP TO NO. 2 IN DIVISION II
FLORENCE -- The University of North Alabama football team climbed in the Division II poll for the sixth straight week, this time moving from No. 3 in the nation to No. 2. UNA is only nine points behind top ranked Saginaw Valley State after the Lions knocked off No. 1 ranked Valdosta State 17-10 Saturday on the road....

Well, GT is taking on Duke tomorrow.

But I was thinking, our D is awesome. But our O is not great, but not good enough to win games

But when Ralph Friedgen was here, we had one of the nation's top offenses.

So my dream GT team: Current Defense + Friedgen Offense equals: Top 5 national title contender :)

Seriously, GT needs to get a top notch Offensive Coordinator for the future. Our current lineup would be BCS contendership stuff next year if we were playing in the old ACC. But with Miami and Virginia Tech coming in next year, we need to get some more weapons in our arsenal in order to remain competitive.

UT is about to take on Miami. This game is pretty critical, even though it isn't a conference game. I'm not even going to comment on it one way or the other, as I'm afraid to, there is no telling which way this game might go.

I had a nagging feeling this would happen. I had hoped that our guys would've learned thier lesson after the Clumpson debacle, but they haven't.

GT is being dominated by........

DUKE!

Woo Hoo!!!

"Rocky Top, you'll always be, home sweet home to me, Good ol' Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee!!!"

We (number 17 ranked UT) just OWNED number 7 ranked Miami 10-6. Talk about an underdog coming from behind! We can get the SEC championship if we win from here on out, and maybe even the BCS.

Who will win the ESPN Bottom 10 number 5 this week.

There's plenty to go around.

Georgia Tech: Lost to a Duke team that hasn't won an ACC game since 1999

Miami: Lost two straight games, one of which to an overrated Tennessee team

Wake Forest: Lost to UNC nough said.

And we haven't even seen Clumpson vs FSU yet.

I hate to say this but ... Go Clumpson!! Beat those Noles.

Overrated? WTF are you smoking? We're freaking number 17! Definitely not overrated. If anything, Miami was overrated. We've got a dumbass for a quarterback, but we have a fairly decent team.

Navy lost to Notre Dame

Iowa got it's ass kicked by Purdue, but that's what happens when you barely have an offense and you play a good team late in the season. I just wish Purdue would have played well against Michigan earlier this season so they'd still have a shot at the Rose Bowl without needing help.

Arizona is playing Washington for homecoming tonight. :| ......

This ought to be good.

Depending on the score they could possibly climb on ESPN's Bottom 10.

I'm also wondering what they are going to promise to get someone to be the new football coach next year.

The Vols Ain't Overrated

Tennessee played a whale of a game against Bama in a squeaker. They showed just how good they were, and Bama came to play (much like they did in a close one against unstoppable Oklahoma earlier in the year, and OU barely beat the Tide in that game), unlike so many other games the Tide dropped this year. Tennessee is certainly not overrated. Speaking of which...

Alabama finally won a game! Roll Tide! Beat Mississippi State 38 to 0. Auburn aaaaaaalmost won,

but then lost to Ole Miss....

In Division II football news, my alma mater, North Alabama plays West Georgia today. Hopefully, UNA can win out the regular season and then go to the playoffs, where they'll likely again face Valdosta State.

It looked more to me like Miami gave the game away with all the turnovers and penalties. The Canes are out of control and the coaches are to blame. Brock needs to ride the bench for a while.

Texas A&M got bitchslapped today 77-0. As to who beat them, I don't care. I just hate the Aggies.

I hope they have another bad season after this. I would love to see Franchione on his ass after what he did to Bama.

#1 Ranked Okalahoma laid that Asskicking on them.

Heh, it's definitely been a year of upsets. Even so, don't foresee anyone beating OU this year...

Maybe if the first string and a major portion of the second string get an intense case of food poisoning the morning of the game. Even then someone's going to have to get lucky.

I suppose I should start getting depressed that the Stoops brothers and their offensive coordinator, Chuck Long, all used to be players and assistant coaches at Iowa.

Heck the coach at Kansas State used to be an assistant at Iowa and so did the coach at Wisconsin (he's actually managed to win a few Rose Bowls). :?

Granted, the current Iowa coach seams okay but really he's only had one good year so far. This year may turn out to be so-so and it seems pretty clear that he's using this gig as a steping stone.

Pittsburgh put the screws to Virginia Tech's hopes of hitting the Sugar Bowl.

With all of the upset losses in the polls please don't tell me that Ohio State is going to be right behind USC in the BCS. :?

At least Ohio State finally looked decent on offense.

Yeah, with this year's BCS lineup, the real question will be, "Who will Oklahoma destroy in the Sugar Bowl?" Suppose I shouldn't say that, because upsets have happened before, but OU looks awfully strong...

I'm kind of hoping for USC. Out of the teams left within range of going to the Sugar Bowl they are the one I'd most like to see get spanked on prime time level. :D

Kind of like what Nebraska did to Florida in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.

62 to 24 and it really wasn't that close.

I think Spurrier was running out of pained expressions to use.

Kirk Ferentz is an excelent coach, would have been in line to replace Suprrier had he stayed in the fLorida area.

As for Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez, he was the head coach at Mason City High School and led that school to its only ever State Title at Football. The only reason i know this? I went to that high school )course he won that title aboot 5 years before I was born), od people stil dwell on it and wish he'd stuck around longer. Cant remember how long he was a college coach in Iowa.

Addendum: Go Trojans.

I don't know how long he was at Iowa. I think he was the linebacker coach for a few years.

By the way, I gradtuated from Bettendorf High School. We won a Basketball State Championship while I was a student there but all the football championships were either before or after I was there. :)

Darth Fanboy wrote:Addendum: Go Trojans.

:D Truthfully, Pete Caroll's Trojans have't gotten to the point where I truly hate them yet since they are still on the upswing from where they were. I'm a little peeved that they beat Iowa in the Orange Bowl last year but I can't blame them too much because Iowa played pretty shitty, just like they always do in big bowl games. If they keep being this good for a few more years I really get to dispise them again. I still hate UCLA more. :)
