I didn't learn about Texas until about month ago. You, however, do not know the concept of horrible drivers. Allow me to give an example:

My father was meeting a group of Japanese businessmen that were visting here. They were muddled and confused by the directions given to them, but being the trusting people they were, they followed them

Example (note: road numbers changed to protect your sanity.): "Alright, you want to make a right off of 128 west onto 93 south-" "Wait, that should be taking me nouth." "Actually, you'll be driving North-east. Now-" "What? North-East?! How does-" "Don't worry about it, now you want to...")

On this trip, which involved the strip of sanity-destorying road known as the MassPike. You do not know fear until you have driven on this road, and find yourself barreling along at 90mph[sic]. In the right lane. And people are passing you. In excess of 120mph. In the breakdown lane. While it's raining.

No, I'm being perfectly honest. We also have potheads who watch DVDs on portable DVD players with the pedal to the floor.

Anywyas, these poor gentlemen were witness to a fine example fo the Massachusetts driver, in the left lane, cross four lanes of MassPike highway in under 100 yards to get off at an exit.

When this was explained to my father, being the veteran Masschusetts driver that he is, immediatly reacted with the following words: "Yeah, and?" not realising that thesee people were foreigners, and were quite wholely unused to our system of driving (Anything is okay, as long as there isn't a State Trooper watching)

This post was in perfect seriousness.

Minnesota's flyover country.
Kind of like Indiana, but colder. :P
Meh, I guess I forgot to mention where I'm in: Massachusetts. Land of Liberals and the home of the world's most expensive public works project in the history of mankind.

Ah, the joys...
Massachusetts went for Reagan in 1984.

Minnesota is the only state to never go for Reagan during his 2 terms.

But you still have Ted Kennedy to be proud of. :P

Damn, I thought we voted for Carter... huh. Oh, well.

Looking through... I find that I'm thinking of the '72 election of Nixon, rather than the '84 election of Reagen. Sorry about that.

You've also got fewer people in your whole country then a number of individual American states. When you look at the "heavily" populated Australian states there comparable in size both geographically and population wise to many of those of America.
Our population total is about 20 million, are there American cities bigger than that?

There are 2 states, Virginia and West Virginia, I think.
U.S. HISTORY LESSON:
In the 1700's and early 1800's, the Great State of Virginia reached from the Atlantic across to the Ohio River, crossing the Appalachian Mountain range. The seat of power was, of course, at Richmond, with policies and laws made that those living on the other side of the mountains had little control over.
In 1863, in the middle of the US Civil War (aka 'War between the States'), Virginia was divided between the Southern Sympathizers and the Northern Sympathizers, with nearly a perfect geographical split that followed the Appalachian Mountains. When the politicians in Richmond seceeded from the Union, those in the mountains formed their own Government of (Unionist) Virginia, located on the Ohio River in the city of Wheeling.
This is where it gets interesting.

The mountain people started petitioning to be their own seperate state, and part of the Union. President Abraham Lincoln pointed out that Virginia needed to give the new state permission to leave. So... those wanting a new state asked the Virginia Government, but not the one in Richmond.
With the 'Government of Virginia-in-exile' giving permission, Pres. Lincoln signed an Executive Order declaring the sovereignty of the State of West Virginia.

Now: For those that actually have read the US Constitution, you'll note I specificed that it was an Executive Order. West Virginia did not meet any of the conditions laid out in the Constitution for becoming a new state, and even the way permission was gained to become a state is highly questionable.

Thus: West Virginia is the *only* state that could legally be declared Un-Constitutional, Illegal, and disbanded.
But then Virginia would have to take us back...

Oh... just so you can find us on a map... :-D

West Virginia

Oh.. as of 2000, we have a population of 1,800,000.
The scary thing is that's a population 95% White/Causasian, 3.2% Africian-American/Black, and 0.9% Asian/Arabic/Other.

Pennslyvania is a unique geographical oddity. In the east, we have Philadelphia, in the west, we have Pittsburg, but the two halfs are divided by Alabama.
