Somewhat unfortunate Episode III news
James Earl Jones confirmed today that George Lucas told him that the Vader transformation scene will not occur until the last five minutes of the film, so we probably won't get to see Darth in action. Sad, but oh well.

The fact that it is in there at all is a plus for me. I wouldn't want to see Vader half way through the movie.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

I was kind of hoping that the full Vader would appear early, so I wouldn't have to endure that whiny son of a bitch Anakin for the whole movie again.
Even so.. maybe Lucas told JEJ to lie, so as to suprise us..
Hey, I can hope, can't I?

Then again, we could be treated to something like a forty-minute lightsabre battle between Obi-wan and Anakin in the second half of the film.
About the JEJ thing: It's what I expected, too. Having Anakin become Vader in the first half of the film would eliminate the dramatic effect his fall to the Dark Side would have.

Also; as powerful as Darth Vader is, I don't think he has the speed or the reflexes to effectively deal with Jedi in his weakened state.

Of course he will be adopt Darth Vader as his Sith surname earlier in the film, but he won't be fully suited.

Exactly...
What HDS said.
Go and watch ANH. Most of Vader is just standing there while Tarkin does his bit. Screen Time does not = Talking Time.
Someone speaking for five minutes continuously is a long time. People very rarely talk for 10 seconds at a time, unless telling a story or involved in an open debate.
A conversation between two people has maybe 5 second grabs between people, and that happens over a longer period of time if you add a third, then a fourth, then a fifth (and so on) person into the conversation.

If I had to use two words to describe this site, I would choose "nuts" and "fucking," although not in that order. In addition, I would repeat the word "fucking" approximately 15,000 times for emphasis, as this is simply the most ridiculous and ungodly site I have ever gazed my eyes upon. - Lowtax's opinion of DarkStar's Page
Thank you very much HDS and HBMC!!!
My hope that Vader will kick at least ONE, just ONE ass has been replenished.

I want Episode III to get an R rating, so the battle between Obi-Wan and Vader can be shown in gory detail. I want Anakin to emerge screaming from the volcano covered in burnt skin, blood, and lava.... The only thing keeping him alive is the Dark Side of the Force and his hatred for Kenobi.

Hey! I have an idea! Why not make a great movie that you wants to see over and over and over again instead of a predictable action movie with just some bad guys kicking Jedi ass?
If Anakin became Vader early in the film, that would pretty much ruin the whole thing, wouldn't it? I mea, everybody knows what's going to happen but it doesn't until the time is just right, with the right music and everything, and that should be when, at least, 3/4 of the movie has passed. And then in the end of the movie, Palpatine sends out Vader to kill all the Jedis, or something similar.
Anyway, that's my opinion.

I will reiterate my hopes.
1) Anakin having fully turned to the dark side striding into and through the jedi temple massacring all those who try to stop him.
2) A space battle, possibly even the battle for Coruscant itself where someone on the ground looks up into the DAY sky and all they can see is a sky of green and red thanks to the massive amounts of TL fire and explosions.
3) A ground battle, preferably in an urban environment that includes - CAS, precision orbital strikes aaaaand... A Base Delta Zero! Yay!
and my personal hope
4) The final duel between Obi Wan and Anakin will be remarkable and actually emotional. Yes emotional, as Anakin explains why he turned, as Obi Wan tries to convert him back, as they fight they continue speaking... It should be a really really STRONG sequence to watch.

The only emotions Anakin should show by now are unthinking rage and hate, slowly manifesting into cold, calculating darkness.weemadando wrote: 4) The final duel between Obi Wan and Anakin will be remarkable and actually emotional. Don't want to add to the disappoinment, but Lucas said that Ep III will be a small personal movie. That means to me that it will focus on Anakin, Padme and Obi Wan and we won;t see any HUGE space battles since the timeline GL puts forth for EP III states that it begins at the end of the clone wars so when it comes to space battles we may only have the battle of Endor for all six movies to look to for space battles.
I respect the decision. GL has always been more interested in characters than in technology, its a main theme in his story afterall.

There will be a space battle. One was planned for Episode II and was cut because it would just make the movie too long- same with the Mace vs Jango fight and the Jedi attack on the Droid Control Ship.
Lucas also said that Episode II would be a 'small, personal love story'. It was nothing of the sort (in terms of scale, battles, etc.)
Of COURSE there'll be a big fuckoff space battle- near the beginning of the film, to resolve the end of the Clone Wars most likely. Not only is it necessary because its STAR WARS, not SMALL PERSONAL TALE, but how else do you establish that Anakin was the "best starfighter pilot in the galaxy"?

I was thinking Vader and Palpatine looking out a starship's windows at tens of thousands of ISDs under construction at Kuat, with the Imperial March playing at space-shuttle launch volumes.
