Real-Life Batmobile

Post by Raoul Duke, Jr. »

Question: if you decided (for whatever reason) that you wanted to buy a brand-new car and trick it out like the Batmobile, what car would it be?

What the hell is that? (curiosity piqued)

I should have been more clear about this; which of the cars on the market today would you choose?

Nice. Am I seeing that right? Are those jet-fighter style bubble windshields? I thought the rest looked familiar.

For cars of today, I'd go far either the 02-03 T-Bird or (my new toy) the Nissan 350Z (Infinity G35 coupe is identical except for slightly different front/rear fascia.)

Classic car: '69 Ford Mustang Mach I

Concept car: Nissan GTR

Nissan Skyline GTR R34. That or an F1. Sweet cars. To bad you can't buy a stock R34 in this country.

The R35 Concept:

This car, it is said, will not carry the Skyline badge if it goes into production. It will be known simply as the Nissan GTR.

Well, I personally dislike cars, but my choice would be a Delorian (modeled to look like the Time Machine in BTTF2, of course).

Me: I'd take a Fuchikoma.

Well, keep in mind that you'd be turning it into a Batmobile (all black, Bat-symbol, etc.) I don't know if I could bring myself to do that to a DeLorean. lol. What's a Fuchikoma?

Much more practical than the Batmobile. :)

This is a Fuchikoma:

It's from Ghost in the Shell, a manga and anime. But the Fuchikoma only appears in the manga.

It's used by a Japanese government agengy called Section 9, in 2029. It can make hairpin turns at high speeds, climb virtical walls, has machine guns in the "hands", wheels in the feet, thermoptic camoflage (cloak) and a bunch of other stuff.

Raoul - Personally, I never liked the look of the R35. I haven't read anything on its capabilities so I can only judge it on its aesthetics. Also, you're right it'll be known as the GTR. Which is part of the reason why I don't really consider it a true Skyline, the other part is that I don't like how it looks. Besides, I always thought that it looked too much like a Celica from the back. For me the end of the Skyline was the R34, though I have seen the G35 as well.

In my opinion, the majority of the GTR's styling reminds me of a cross between the 350Z and the Mazda RX-8 (which, sadly, has been delayed. If it were available, Nissan would still have 1 more 350Z in their inventory, much as I love my car). The front fascia on the GTR, though, must go.

300km/h road speed. Seats eight. Electric. Can be armored. I think that's vey much the point. :)

Just needs a turbocharged engine and 4000 pounds of armor, plus the turret off a M2A3 Brad. And of course a battering ram.

:? Who makes it? And if there's a 2-door version, it might qualify. We're looking for style here, man. If you could find a Volvo station wagon that did 225mph and could launch sharks with laser beams on their friggin' heads, it still wouldn't be Batmobile material.

I'm not a huge car person, but if not a 67 Mustang or Corvette then I'd take a Dodge Viper.

Think like Batman...you need a car that is good at driving in the streets of a big city, and can take lots of physical punishment. I'd go with the Mexico City mafia route here and say a mercedes, cadillac, or similar luxury automobile. Give it bulletproof armor and tires, a rear firing rocket booster for looks, grappling hooks, machine guns, oil slicks, etc. and you're set.

Or take a cue from Batman in The Dark Knight Returns and just design yourself a 20' tall tank.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Okay, let's consider full-size sedans... my pick for Batmobile in this category: Mercury Marauder.

I've already got my Batmobile: An '82 Mercedes 240D. Not too impressive, I'll admit, but she still handles better than a new Dodge Intrepid. :D  :D I ought to post a pic.

Wait... I've SEEN that in another anime, Doing exactly what you descrbie, looking the exact same and doing the exact same stuff!(Minus the Built in missle Launcher I saw)
It was in another Anime.. Bob I don't even remeber the name, One about Tanks and what-not with the normal post nuke war or some crap normal things, its not tank police, The tanks they drive are much bigger and more manvorable(They look like Furtusitc tanks but with 4 seprate mini treds)

I saw this God awful crap(Except the bot it was cool as hell) on the Action channel if that helps, No idea about the name however, though one last thing it was at least as violent as Akira(To give you a baseline) though at least three people per epsoide(I saw two, subtitled but baddly) died in just 28 mins though...

Well if you're going to build a batmobile you will need to put a jet engine in it...
