Having watched the second episode, I'm not sure all those ships WERE Acclamators... they seemed to be carrying ALOT of fighters (at least in some) as well as alot of gunships (in others) - dozens at least, probably hundreds of each. I didn't see any quad-guns on the starships, at least (either they were retracted or its not armed like the canonical variants.)

Also, there were only about 10-11 ships there, total, not the 30 or so I estimated before (which of course revises my numbers down.) - the fleet numbers deployed were more akin to what was on Geonosis, though they utilized far more gunships though.

Edit: The gunships lack the side-pods as well.. a fact I consider interesting.

Are normal gunships capable of functioning outside the atmosphere?

These might have been variants so that they could be launched from outside the atmosphere.

We know that Clonetroopers can survive in space for a short period of time, and judging from the episode (just finished watching a few minutes ago) the Acclamator was quite low- a pressurized field of some kind may also have asssisted- otherwise Obi-Wan would've bought it ... heh.

The doors have open viewports- which are not windows- they double as docking clamps (Ep 2 ICS)- also the illustration clearly marks windows/glazing on other parts of the LAAT with a bluish sort of hue.

Saw it today, quite interesting. Genndy's style is well suited, I'm glad Lucas had the foresight of choosing him for the production of these cartoons. (The black clouds of the Xmas Special are swept away by turbolaser fire.)

Only if you are on an American ISP god damnit.

Muahahaha!

You're not missing much; the quality on the site is crap, and you can't save 'em. I hooked my digital camcorder to the tv to record the episodes, so that it looks muy bueno.

Connor pointed out though that they lacked the side pods...so this could just be another variant.

I don't know though. I don't have all of youse guyses eyes for detail. :|

I figured the lack of side pods was jut to sell the toys better. Bah, oh well. Oh, and if you notice, in Chapter 1, they are the same relative size to the toys.

Also, the quality on Cartoonnetwork.com is fine for me. It looks just like it does on the TV. Probably my computer, though.

Or maybe your crappy TV :P

I don't know, I wasn't able to choose any different resolutions or anything on the site, and it just shows up like 2 or 3 inches wide. My monitor's at 1600x1200.
On my 34" TV, the Clone Wars look fabulous.

And about the Geonosian fighters, it is possible that some Geonosians left the planet with the rest of the Seperatists. In the Clone Wars Episode II commentary on Cartoonnetwork.com, Genndy Tartakovsky explains that the fighters are piloted by droids, however.

Is the red guy a Sergeant or did I hear Obi-wan wrong?

If so, what's that make the others? Blue=Corporal, or are the blues the only ARC Troopers and the rest are regulars tacked on?

The Red ARC is basically the leader of the ARC's and Troops. The Blue ARC's are just regular ARC's.

I didn't hear anything on their ranks, though.

Worlds of AOTC tells the rank color scheme, but I don't recall it off the top of my head.

SW.com's subscriber section has larger, higher-quality Clone Wars downloads AFAIK.

All sorts of possibilities--varients with viewports and vacuum seals, or simply stock models with atmosphere-containment fields over the ports--the troopers all have sealed suits, and between those two I don't see the big deal the Republic would have on LAAT's riding gravity down for about five minutes from the upper edges of an atmosphere.

Something I had pointed out to me by Brian Young regarding the gunships descending to the planet from orbit - we know canonically that they have shielding (AOTC novelization) - its possible the shields might allow containment of the atmosphere (especially if they are configured for "hull hugging" mode.)

So, let's look at the new toys revealed in tonight's episode. There's the scanner that locates the droids, which could presumably also send its information to the helmet displays of surrounding troops (though the squad in tonight's episode seemed to be operating on comm-silence).
They also made use of shoulder-fired rockets, and the droids fired on them with awesome scoped machine guns.
They had that recon droid that flew up and gave them information about their surroundings, too.

Not that we didn't know it before, but the Clonetroopers kick ass.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Tonights episode wasn't as good as the last two.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

Shatterpoint says that there are modified gunships designed to let them get into the atmosphere from space. I'd say these are them

Durge lifting an AT-TE with a stick and then it explodes for no reason, no thanks. And what was up with those IG-88 things? They were supposed to be mercenaries? They are droids, not thugs! They should've used big ugly guys with badass bikes, not a dozen droids. And how the hell did they destroy those Artillery Implacements? And why weren't any knocked off when the Clones were firing at them? And why wasn't there a black hole in that Clone Trooper's armor when he was shot? Gah!

That episode left me cold.
