"We here quite clearly see the Queen Xenomorph using the Type II as breeding stock. Over the next week the Queen managed to capture the ship, though not before a crewer forced her out of hyperspace and broadcasted warnings to stay away. A Kzinti poison-warfare ship investigated and sent drones onboard. They found numerous eggs that had failed, but some that had not. Most importantly, the drones retreived nucleic acid from them.

"That evidence proves without a doubt that such crossover is possible and that it in fact happened. Your continued denials over the subject show what little the Aquarians apparently know about Xenomorph biology despite your nation's claim of genetic excellence. At this rate, the Kingdom will be forced to revoke recognition of accreditation for your universities in the biological fields. The information from the sensors and genetics are attached. In addition, extra genetic mapping has been attached from known-pure Type I and Type II Xenomorphs for comparison. "

Sweet mother void... We have ever observed anything like this. Granted, we are used to dealing with entirely different phylum of organisms... We thought we could control their genes to the point where a crossover was impossible... We have never encounted an organism with such rates of mutation.. we have performed countless uplifts, even of dangerous predators, and never encountered this.

It is obvious now to us that we did not know enough about Xenomorph biology to ever attempt this uplift. what is done is done, and we will not allow harm to come to our citizens but... In our zeal to grant the gift of choice we made a horrible mistake.

We woud propose a joint task-force to gather data on this subject, and to get us up to galactic standard on xenomorph biology... As well as to fight off infestation by these Type IIIs

For what it is worth... we apologize...

"Is the task force ready?"

"Yes emperor, the fleet is prepared for hyperspace."

"Tell them to launch immediatly.

"Yes emperor."

We have just launched the Xeno hunter task force into international space, and request that any sightings of Type three Xenomorph hives outside your own territory be passed along to the task group. They will take care of the infestation.

We will be tightening customs inspections within our territory, and increasing the number of ships in our decimated fleet to patrol our systems...

Neoxenomorphs have asked to make a statement...

"Greetings to all humanoids... We wish to ofer our apologies for this new strain of our kind.. We are sorry that one of ours was used as genetic stock to create a dangerous new subspecies of Xenomorph. Thank you.

"Lord Edward III, numerousb Azegart convoys have arrived."

"Thank you Lord Duke. Any ideas concerning over dealings with the Aquarian Union?"

"Well yes Milord. You keep the raids up in the borderlands of the AU or bring them to your forces to the Aquarian Home world."

"Yes, prefer the later. So, what is the news of this Heavy Armour Brigade I told you to discover?"

From: Stuart Corporation Shareholder Security Service Central Command
Subject: Xenomorph infection

As this matter clearly has run out of control, and paranoia is abound, the Stuart Corporation issues a complete stop on all foreign travel to and in the Stuart Corporation. All foreign vessels wishing to enter Stuartian space are to report to our fringe outposts and wait to be scanned and cleaned for transfering their cargo et al. to Stuartian ships.
Any foreign ship encountered within Stuartian space after 00:00 AMT tomorrow will be considered illegal anddestroyed as a security precausion.

FROM: Senate of the Commonwealth (Desjardins)
TO: All Star Nations
SUBJ: Xenomorph Infection

-::-

Over the last month, there have been 15 recorded Xenomorph attacks across the Commonwealth. All encounters were quickly resolved, and in only 3 of the encounters did the adult Xenomorph survive to maturity. Due to the extremely obvious method the Xenomorph uses to reproduce, well informeed Commonwealth and civilian forces have been able to slay Xenomorph "facehugger" stage organisms while they are immobile and attached to their host.

In only one circumstance did a Xenomorph infestation last long enough to spawn a Queen. The independant merchantman Scherazhade came into port over Mutsu earlier this week, and did not answer hails from Mutsu traffic control. The team of Commonwealth marines sent to investigate found the vessel's crew dead, and over 300 Xenomorphs and a Queen present. The Xenomorphs, being essentially beasts, were eradicated by elements of the 23rd Mutsu Grenadiers, a Commonwealth Marine Corps unit which was assigned to cleanse the vessel. The Marines took only four casualties.

Any powers interested in basic small unit tactics and shipboard warfare doctorine can read any of the hundreds of works on the subject published by military experts of the TSC. Xenomorphs, while frightening, are no matched to trained military forces who know what they are up against.

Bureau of Public Information
for Human consumption

The Kzin are happy to report that their core space is free of any detectable infestations, thanks to zealous border controls, regular biological and telepathic sweeps (standard procedure since the 6940 "Barrio Outbreaks"), and positive cooperation with the local population and authority figures. Newly acquired possessions to the north and east of our core systems do not have the infrastructure to support such projects, but aggressive patrols and the closure of these unsettled systems to all foreign traffic is expected to keep them clean.

The ever benevolent Patriarch wishes that all his human subjects be reminded of the great benefits to be gained by settlement in the fringe systems. Breath fresh air in unspoiled settings, receive a lifelong pension in exchange for a bit of hard work, and get the opportunity to meet new and interesting people! Emigrate along the Norma Arm today!

----

The reason, Chung thought as he dropped the sheet of flimsiplast into a trashbin, that the Kzin were so good at maintaining order was that they didn't understand privacy. To them, sending a team of telepaths to forcibly scan a neighborhood for xenomorph activity was no different from knocking on the door and asking. There was no sense of etiquette with them except for deference to a superior and respect for an equal, and humans were neither of those things. It wasn't so bad unless you got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ratcats didn't like to associate with their subjects and left them mostly alone. And if you did get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, well, then you were monkeymeat. Too bad.

Which brought Chung to his current pass. The Triad (Mongols, Chinese, and Japanese/Youma syndicates formed as one under the aegis of the big boss) had to feed the kitty whenever it needed, otherwise it would get too hungry and start looking around for meat to eat. The ratcats always wanted things like information on foreign infiltration, psuedo-criminal goings on, and whatever could be gleaned about foreign governments. Chung was just going to pass this data on to a nice officer and be on his way.

That was really the core of the Kzin way of government. For the ratcats there wasn't much distinction between civilian and military, government and private sector, legal and illegal. It was all part of the pack, and they ruled the humans by making every inch of them a part of the state. Totalitarianism gently applied but with a fist of iron behind it. If a human had been in charge, he probably would have ruined it by ruthless exploitation. But Kzin were funny that way, they could handle it better. Probably because they weren't as smart.

Chung made the handoff without difficulty. It was the same information as always. A few criminals to get eaten, the SKS and UTR weren't really trying to infiltrate very much (and what he did report the Kzin would probably let slide because it was fairly harmless).

Next he had to get a discussion going with his contacts in the SKS. The Triad Head had plans coming up.

The Star Kingdom was often seen as a beacon of bright, shining light for civilization. Her cities were from all appearences low in crime and her people friendly and kind. Of course, they were also known as manipulative bastards; but many seemed to separate the state from the people. Certainly, one could expect a bit paranoia considering their history.

So it was a surprise to those who delved deeper that organized crime had roots very deep in the foundation of the Kingdom. Anyone in government knew about them, but organized crime was relatively benign. Civilized, even: it resembled the Kzinti Triad in more ways than one. When one lived in an absolute monarchy, you had to be careful. They had caught the disfavour of Titanite I and were squeezed in a vise for a good five years until she thought the object lesson made. But no, she did not destroy them: pragmatism demanded that they live.

They had tried something against Serenity I before, thinking her soft. That was a near-fatal mistake: the vengeance of Serenity was only sated when the existing organized crime families were hauled in front of her and forced to swear eternal alliegance. They learned their place; the attempt at Titanite was in the mistaken belief her well-known pragmatism would let them have freer reign.

Today, organized crime resembled that of in the Patriarchy but nstead of a triumverate, well, they had a single power. The Zodiac. Twelve astrologers served as the coequal heads of the organization with carefully delineated roles. And their foresight was well-known from their skills of the stars. But they never tried anything too big with their foreknowledge. The Minister of Temporal Affairs made it all too clear what would happen if they did.

And so, they provided services like gambling and money laundering and the sale of controlled substances. But their true power was information. That was bought and sold daily, horoscopes distributed to customers and other actions taken. Scorpio was the first and only one to talk to the courier. A young man by all accounts, probably taken off the streets like any other of the type. "You will deliver this message to our contact on the Five Fangs at precisely 1735 local time next Wednesday. The Deep Core of the Galaxy

David Ferrell, captain of the Pathfinder decided the time had come to disclose what he believed. He might as well while he was aboard Lion.

"Something been bothering me, just who is commanding this expedition, and what is it objective?" "As senior captain I am in command and we are here to map the deep core, you know that Dave." Replied Steinmaker, slightly puzzled by his friend's statement. "I think command of that dinky little Blake is affecting your thinking." "She's the finest cruiser in the galaxy, not this brand new oversized scow they gave you, and I'm serious." "I'm in command here. Bellatrix, Teaser, you and you Pathfinder all follow my orders. Your my friend but I don't like being questioned on this, is there a point to this?"

"Sir, where not here to map the core of the galaxy, or rather there's more to it then that. Where trying to find something specific." Steinmaker took a sip from his drink, "Go on." "I think someone high up found out about something, something that got lost before or during the war. Now they've sent this group and the Moltke and Altair to look for it. Take a look at this chart of both groups movements." The points and lines where obvious, the two small task groups where circling around an extremely volatile area of space not far from the totally impassible web of black holes of the galaxy's very core.

"So let me finish your thoughts. You think Sisler over on Bellatrix is really an admiral or something close to that, and that he's been trying to find a way into this region of space. When he does he's going to take command. And then we all find out the secret?" "That would be about it. It makes at least as much sense as sending a pair of capital warships out to escort a survey mission when the galaxy's gearing up for another total war."

"Knowing the in's and out's of the galactic core would present a major advantage against the Kzin or SKS." "Yeah, maybe I've just been bored all these months we've spent, maybe this area of space where probing from every direction contains nothing, maybe the probes are just coincidental or maybe the goal is simply not to leave any holes in the map. Maybe. But before this mission had you ever heard of the Bellatrix or Altair? Both are in the normal registry, as assault transports. My clearance shows them as electronic warfare ships. I don't know what your clearance might say it really is, but I don't know of too many survey vessels, which can conceal every antenna they've got behind a folding armored doors."

Steinmaker sighed. "You know I agree with you fully, because I've suspected the exact same thing for some time know." Ferrell didn't look surprised. "Well then I suppose I go on following your orders until all is revealed." "That is the only option, it is our duty to follow orders. Mine place me in command with the direction to follow the course suggestions of Bellatrix unless the tactical situation dictates otherwise. Yours are to follow mine. We do not know the whole story and if there was a requirement the information would be presented." "I've never meant to question the validity of our orders sir." As he finished the door to the captain's cabin opened. Both turned to look towards it as a dark blue clad women strolled in.

"You had better have a good explanation for entering my quarters without permission," growled Steinmaker. "I don't need permission, captain. Our Great Leader already gave it when he bestowed the privilege of carrying this upon me," she levitated her lightsaber to her hand. "These days it is not as effective as it was once. But that doesn't matter for now," the lightsaber returned to its place on her belt. "The Great Leader thinks highly of you both, it is no surprise that you have both guessed correctly about our mission. It is now time that I fill in the details and we complete it."

The problem with the geographical disposition of the Engima Sector was that an attack via the byzantine pathways through the Deep Core was possible. Early-warning networks were simply infeasable due to the sheer amount of interference. For the cost of installing an early-warning defense line that could see through the Core, the Kingdom could lay down a huge network elsewhere capable of detecting attacks through more convenient pathways.

But they couldn't just leave it be. It presented a rather direct invasion route straight into the Engima Sector and thus the capitol world of the Star Kingdom. And it was possible to map one's way through the Core with very specific and dangerous paths. The advantage was that one would be virtually indetectable within transit if one risked the journey (and the inevitable losses).

Therefore, the known openings to the pathways on the Kingdom's side were constantly patrolled by the Space Guard. In combination with numerous listening stations, they served as a tripwire force for any invasion that might come its way. Of course, they were not expected to fight (or, for that matter, survive for long after transmitting) but those were the breaks.

HMS Unicorn was one such ship on assigned on patrol. She was officially rated as an escort carrier but carried no fighters. Instead, she was decked out (literally, in this case) with a multitude of very capable and incredibly expensive sensor systems. Inside, powerful computers processed data to try and sort actual contacts from the hash of radiation around them. As usual for places with such activity, the ether behaved in strange ways and couldn't be assured of picking up a cloaked contact. CGT arrays were similarly degraded depending on where the ship was.

So this, like other, escort carriers were forced to carefully patrol their side of the Core, praying to whatever Gods they might believe in that an invasion would never come. The massively overpowered communications arrays would draw attention from anyone in the area and then it was curtains unless they could fold out in time. And folding out quickly (or using virtually any stardrive, for that matter) in this mess of space-time was simply not possible.

The message was dropped on time, and read as follows:

I wish to commission you to perform two services for me in exchange for payment in a form of your choice.

1. Facillitate the entrance into the Kingdom of some of my trusted lieutenants and operatives.
2. Gather information on the surviving senshi and their magically-endowed underlings; their comings and goings, relative power levels, likes and dislikes, whatever you find.
(3. Later on I may request your assistence in contacting members of the Kingdom's government. I would not presume to intrude upon your territory by opening my own contacts, and fair payment for this service is promised.)

You may name your price to begin, and we will negotiate it to a mutually acceptable level.

The Zodiac convened at this message. The Triads were looking into expansion into the Kingdom past their currently limited activities. This, of course, was a threat to their own hegemony on organized crime here in the Kingdom.

The argument - though polite - raged on throughout the night. In the end, it was decided that they proceed, but with great caution. The Triads were dangerous. Another messenger, this time a young woman, was sent out. As usual, the timing had to be precise. The stars were were as unforgiving as they were uncaring and it woud do one well to heed them.

"To our respected Triad,

We have received word of your request for greater abilities within the Star Kimgdom and of three particular requests in detail. We shall outline our response thusly:

1. This will be easily done.
2. This is dangerous. We will require more information on the specificity of the intelligence data you request. The Zodiac are bound by oath to the Crown. The Senshi are the executors of the will of the Crown and thus considered as part of that oath.
3. This will be easily done.

Our opening bid has been attached. Should you find the bid beyond the worth of the request, by all means send a counter-bid.

Whatever information your organization considers safe enough to sell will be adequate. I will not reveal my intentions in this matter, as I would not ask you to reveal your own operating methods. Suffice it to say that I would not presume to attempt harm on a group as powerful as the senshi.

Your opening bid is high but acceptable.

Very well. We will give you as much information as we can. You may find that it is not the best in breadth or depth; security amongst the Senshi is exquisite.

VENUS is currently the commander of the Senshi, as you likely know. As she is suspected to be the only remaining senior senshi from before the Diaspora her power levels are quite impressive. She is a master of disguise magics; she has been known to conduct her own intelligence missions if needed. Despite an affection of being a "dumb blonde," she is highly intelligent and extremely competent. She has also served as the head of the national police force.

We know virtually nothing about PLUTO. We know that she heads the Ministry of Temporal Affairs and has advised Queen Serenity, Queen Titanite and Lord Calcite from time to time. As for her age or power we are as much in the dark as the Triads are.

SATURN has been missing since the end of war against Atlantis. We do not know if she is dead or alive. Should she be alive, we all know how much power she possessed: she is quite capable of destroying planetoids on her own.

The Royal Senshi Academy was reopened in 6344 and has graduated anywhere from 1-4 students per year out of a freshman class of nearly 10000. The surviving strength of the Senshi at the end of Warring Periods was approximately 276 and they may be expected to be the strongest of the Senshi. We estimate at least 600 Senshi are currently active.

Additional information is attached in a collated database. Feel free to request clarification should this be insufficiently clear.

As a gesture of goodwill, we shall reduce our opening bid by 2.75%.

"It is very sparse information, honored Triad Head," Oyugun said as he finished his summary.

"It will do, and worth the price. We would have never otherwise known these things. What is our readiness?" the other asked from the darkness.

"One thousand adepts, though only my Golden Jaghun and the Monks can bear comparison. About 200 effectives, then," Oyugun reported.

"Good. Then there is the extortion," the Triad Head said.

The Mongol squinted at the other man, "What do you mean?"

"I have something they want. They have something I need. We will compromise," said the Triad Head, "but it will wait until your men have sounded the waters. In the meantime, see that the debt to the Zodiac is paid."

Cancer walked along with Libra towards the Star Chamber as they mulled over the consequences of their latest actions. The Stars were silent as usual. Such short-term effects were simply not relevant to whatever forces they acted upon. It was dangerous to rely on the powers of the stars too often. They didn't care about the puny mortals that tried to understand their strength.

"Cancer, you play a very dangerous game. The Triads and the Triad Head are very dangerous opponents. Too dangerous. We should not have cooperated so easily with them. They are up to something and expansion into what is our territory is only their foot in the door." Libra was most unhappy about this turn of events. They will tip the balance too far.

"Libra. If we did not assist them, they would likely have tried less ... elegant methods of attaining that what they seeked. You know how bound we, how powerful the Triads have become. Our protection only goes so far."

"Not at this cost. And the divulging of our secret files on the Senshi? We walk a razor line, Cancer. Our oath to the Crown should not be so easily bent. Broken it was not, but we bent it still. There will be reprecussions."

"The Crown is dead, Libra."

"But the Oath remains. Are we to be known as oath-breakers? And you have read the same stars as I have and come to the same conclusions. The Crown will be reborn sooner than you think."

The ship was sleek and fast. It's black hull responded to space and changed as a form of visual stealthing: the result was virtually inconspicious for the visible eye. As for propulsion, it moved in the ether from a sort of arcane magic few understood and even fewer could implement. The etheric propeller; the secret to it was discovered shortly after that Atlantean invasion began and was lost when team of scientists had their souls sucked dry to fuel Halite's dark magics.

So the captain of this ship had the only etheric propeller in the known universe. It was just as well; it mean that she could travel virtually undetected. The addition of no less than four different cloaking technologies aided in that as well.

The woman who captained it was somewhat pale in complexion. She had dark black hair with a very slight purple hint; her eyes were similarly purple. Power seemed to radiate from her, but for the moment she had a serene look on her face. She once had a normal name, given by her mother and father, but she preferred not to use it now. It had its uses; the name she preferred was far too conspicuous.

Of course, her flightpatch with a stylized "h" featuring a cross through the top part would give her away. That required some knowledge of the ancient arts, and few off the Kingdom still subscribed to hem. And she stayed well clear of the Kingdom: her quarry would not be there. So she hunted. And with her small crew would keep hunting, until the end of time if neccessary, for her prey.

The young woman preferred to be called Saturn. Her prey was the one known simply as Halite.

Desjardins, Desjardins:

"So what exactly is this thing we're supposed to be assembling?" asked a sergeant as he handed a slightly curved section of metal up.

"No clue. All I know is that we're getting paid alot for this job, and that we're supposed to finish this and fill it with a lot of water. After that, we leave." said the the leuitenant. "Hey, watch that piece!"

Desjardins:

The assembly had been completed. The newly completed tank was hooked up to a water main, and slowly began filling.

[ooc] The tank is 9m tall and 30m diameter. [/ooc]

Marc Roussil hated his life. He could barely remember why he had taken his crappy federal job in the first place. His work was mind-numbing, and it didn't pay well. He had been working double shifts since his wife quit her job at the factory to spend more time with their newborn, and while Marc hated to admit it, he wasn't sure how well he could handle the stress.

He went up to the fifth building of the day- Sector 14, Santander Boulevarde, East Government District- a seedy warehouse sector to the east of the Old City, with it's massive military bunkers and government supertowers.

He knocked on the small side office entrance. Whe the door opened, he doffed his hat and presented himself.

"Marc Roussil, Federal Utilities. We've detected water usages beyond what this structure is rated for. I'm afraid that's a violation of federal law..."

Marc always hated this part. The Federal water regs were stupid, something about conservation of the world's water supplies. Desjardins didn't have an environment to protect anymore, everyone knew that.

"Of course, it could just be a faulty flowdetector."

Marc got three or four of those a day- the little devices bugged on a regular basis.

"So, if you don't mind, I'll have to inspect the flow detectors. Unless you have some explanation for why-"

Marc checked his order form momentarily

"- this electronics warehouse is using enough water to fill a swimming pool in one night?"

Marc grinned broadly. No WAY this was anything besides a busted 'detector.

[ooc] An Olympic swimming pool is 50m x 25m by a minimum of 2m my tank holds 2.5 times that much water.[/ooc]

"Well, Marc, you said you're name was? We're also an assembly point, and some stuff has to be washed prior to that, and we also just finished our sprinker tank and are filling that in. Wait, how much water did you say we were using? Hmm... maybe the flow detector is busted. How about I escort you to it."

The entire conversation was being broadcast to a couple technicians in the back who quickly, and creatively managed to make it look like the detector was reading 500 times what it really did. Thankfully, this visit informed them of their lack of security, and they disabled the detector completely after the inspector left. It would only take a couple more days to fill the tank at the rate it was being filled, at which point, they'd quitely leave the planet, for whatever they just assembled to do.

-: Commonwealth News Network :-

"Morrigan and Andreson Return to Desjardins"

"Chef-Admiral Jaques Andreson, commanding officer of Operation Pyongyang and hero of the Second Battle of Aquarius will be returning to Desjardins earlier today, to personally meet with President Von Braun.

"Coming with him will be the Morrigan, venerable and battle-weary flagship of Poseidon Fleet. The Morrigan's sister ship, the Panthesilea, is laid up in dry dock over Maralsartel, under repair from damage suffered in the cleanup operations in Aquarian space.

"Andreson is expected to be given the Senate's Commendation for Honor- the highest medal that can be bestowed to a soldier. After that, Andreson is expected to return to Maralsartel, where he is expected to be assigned to the Poseidon Fleet once again.

"The return of Operation Pyongyang, and many of ourt soldiers and sailors to their home ports, marks the end on one of the great chapters in Commonwealth history.

"The festivities, and Andreson's bequeathment, are expeced to take place in the Orbital City of Neuveau Ardennes, at the Desjardins L-5."

*pan over yard construction slips*

After the victory, the fleet presses onwards with its Fleet rebuilding and expansion. Yesterday, the battleship Morgaine, heavly beaten in the battle of Valeth, once again sailed up to orbit from its slip in the North Torrent Yard.

The Battle Carrier Dragon's Nest was also completed, after its construction was pushed ahead by the Fleet Central Command. Her sister ship's keel was laid not long ago at her side.

It is still a highly debated topic where this new aggressive politic of CEO Gladstone will lead. Analysts wait for reports on the conference of the Azegart victors on Desjardins. The fact that Gladstone won't attend in person and only via avatar is a sign that things might not be as peaceful as the Board lets the public know.

After the destruction of the Azegart, the various secret listening posts focused their eyes elsewhere. The listening post near the Deep Core picked up some increase in movement there, though we are not sure exactly who is responsible for this.
