Laptop Dilemma

Post by Hyperion »

A local store has a very much used and cosmetically thrashed Toshiba 1.1ghz celeron with 256mb ram, and DVD/CDRW drive for $499, I do know the store will take payments from me almost indefinately since I am friends with the owner, and they may negotiate. The one major flaw is the DVD/CDRW drive, it is missing the tray cover, so you have to push the rails back in when you put in a disk, but it works fine. But I also need an LCD for my main system, which is $568. I also have a still useable, albeit glitchy P2-300mhz laptop which cost me nothing, that I use for school. This laptop would replace this ancient one.

Anyone here have thoughts on it? What do you guys think I should do? My parents are saying wait till fall 2004 when I am at WSU, they will contribute $300 to my getting a modern laptop.

I really am not sure what to do here... I want a decent one now, one that at least won't sound like crap and won't give me issues with Photoshop and Dreamweaver, but I really am not able to afford it right now...

Go for the LCD.
