All I fucking know is that it is official that a lightsabre blade does not produce any heat. I suppose that the power cell does have to produce heat since if it didn't, that would violate physics.
Underwater lightsabres?

It could be in that, too, but IIRC it's mentioned in WEG's Star Wars Sourcebook, and probably a few other sources.JME2 wrote:I believe it is in The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology.Vympel wrote:What official source says they don't produce heat again?Spanky The Dolphin wrote:

Excuse me, but:
1. In the ANH novelisation, Luke did not feel any heat coming from the blade. (While he was carefull not to tuch it directly.)
2. In the TPM novelisation, Obi's sabre was burnt on one (the effective) end and needed to be cleaned. Since they landed in swamp, isn't it possible that it was actually caused by some water- weed (possibly even without the sabre being activated)?

I was replying to the latter part of zombies post and making know real issue of the first part. That part isn't bullshit. His Divine Shadow wrote:Qui-Gon had to shield himself from the heat coming from the door, there's no indication, hint or anything that Qui-gon somehow increased the sabers power through the force.Stormbringer wrote:It's possible Qui Gon did have to sheild himself from the heat of that liquified metal after all. That thing's got to be radiating heat like a bitch and I doubt the sabre itself would protect Qui Gon from the heat of the door itself.
As already explained, Occams Razor.

I suggested that there was a difference between the blade being deactivated and the power (cells) being turned off. (Like a stand-by mode.) So, if you went underwater with the power cells being turned off, and water seeds flew into the tube, you would only have to turn the sabre upside down for the seeds to flow out, but if you went underwater with only the blades being deactivated, the seeds would likely cause a short circuit. This also suggests that you can go underwater with an (blade) activated sabre without any problem.
